At loooooong last the very long awaited Sony A6300 has been announced (along with 3 sweet sweet lenses, that Sony E mount desperately needs).

These specs in particular are juicy:

new 24MP BSI sensor (yay, BSI!)
11fps
4D focus
4K 30fps video (no pixel binning 14 stops dynamic range, 100MPS)
S-Gamut3.Cine/S-Log-3 and S-Gamut3/S-Log3 profiles
1080p120 slow motion
Under US$1k (I think this price is quite reasonable compared to what a GH4 or NX1 was when first released. Yes, I'd like it to be less! So I can wait, once a sale arrives or it shows up secondhand/refurbished that should shave off a few hundred dollars fo rme)
Weather sealed body
422 over HDMI
Switchable NTSC/PAL (phew!! Thank goodness for that)
14bit photos
Mic jack input.

I no longer want a Sony A7s mk1 secondhand (which is a similar, or greater, price), I think I'll hold out on seeing this A6300 go on sale instead! :-D

how are they getting 4k from 24 mpix sensor with no pixel binning? Line skipping haha? This is nonsense...
I see they claim real time down conversion... impressive if true...
This should be the sharpest camera on the market then...

Why not?? I could totally believe it. Sony is already doing it with their 20 megapixel 1" sensors in their cheap consumer cameras.

And Samsung was doing it ages ago with their gigantic TWENTY EIGHT MEGAPIXEL APS-C sensor!! :-o (full sensor read out of a 6.5K sensor, all in a US$1k body! It has a BSI sensor too. And FHD 120fps)

Jacek, I also find most of your self promoting comments on this forum nonsense.... Just saying.

Red cameras are overpriced.

Come on, really? how many countless times has someone asked a simple question about lenses and focusing and you constantly promote your optitron device. I can tell you I have read many sarcastic coments from you over the last couple of years that I would never buy a product from your company. You are abrasive in all of your comments. It is disgusting. You never let the thread stay on point. Here's one example for you. Maybe this was the one where I completely discounted everything you would ever say on this forum.

Don't buy a gimbal as you won't get good results from it. Why would you buy a Ferrari if you can't afford the insurance? It will either sit in the garage or get you in trouble when you drive it without insurance..
I know that our economy revolves around consumer impulsive buyers but this is not a consumer industry- although it seems more and more this way every day...

"UHD 4K Video Recording
Internal recording of UHD 4K movies is possible in multiple frame rates up to 30 fps and, based on the Super35mm recording area and effective 20MP (6000 x 3376) resolution, 2.4x oversampling renders greater detail and full pixel readout is possible, that is void of pixel binning, for higher quality imagery with reduced moiré and aliasing. Full HD 1080p recording is also supported in frame rates up to 120 fps, and both resolutions utilize the 100 Mbps XAVC S format contained within an MP4 wrapper with 4:2:0 sampling. The high-speed, 120 fps recording also enables 4x and 5x slow-motion movie recording with the frame rate set to either 30p or 24p. In addition to high-resolution internal recording, uncompressed HDMI output also enables the use of an optional external recorder for clean 4K recording with 4:2:2 sampling."

What gives then?
bit depth? they should be absolutely the sharpest, best image quality cameras on the market. They obviously are not- hasn't Samsung pulled out of the camera game?

You're right- I'm bad- I admit .....but about the optitron....;-)))))))
Reminds me of a quote "Pioneers are the ones laying face down on the prairie with arrows in their backs" or something like that....

The A-series is ~s35/APS-C/DX/1.6x crop, correct?

Hopefully this handles rolling shutter well, too!

LOL! Just read that is a silly reason by Jacek to not buy a gimbal :P :P ha

Ohhh... and very sad, just saw he is the company guy for optitek.org :-( Pity, as I'd looked into before at their FZ adapters which seemed nice enough.

Canon has the smaller size of x1.6
Nikon and Sony are all x1.5

Impressive! I must laugh on some manufacturer spec. that are still over selling over sampling tech!

It is heaps heaps heaps better than the line skipping which many manufacturers have instead been doing for years and years. This for instance is why all of the Canon DSLR footage looks so very soft, and is not true 1080 footage.

I know- truth hurts sometimes ;-) I've done this for almost 30 years- seen fads come and go and learned to stick to my convictions.. oh well.....

Sure you getting 4k but what Kind of 4k is a totally another story.

I suppose it wouldn't be a big leap of your logic to think steadicams are also just a "fad which comes and goes"?
Steadicam is the dope dude!!! ;-)
Another words- Steadicam is how it's done!!!!

I'm sure a few decades ago the old timers back then felt the same about those fancy new fangled gimmicky "steadicams" as you do about gimbals! ;-)
