  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Something Special... ( REDCINE-X )

Looks like there is something in the water... Alot of angry people at the world lately.

Yup. No Wonder, since a lot of governments seem to be getting legislation through by putting fear into people's minds. Politics aside - I know I've been coming Down hard on you Guys on some issues in the past - this news requires a BIG FUCKING THUMBS-UP to you guys. Been screaming for this since forever and since my Rocket Card just died on me, this couldn't have come at a better time! Now, please get the brains at Intel to support GPUs over Thunderbolt ;-)

You mean GPU is not supported thru Thunderbolt ? It certainly not the case isnt it ? Can elaborate further on this ?

Thanks

HDSDI monitoring option through BM in version 18 and GPU acceleration in v19.... THANK YOU (What else ? ;-))

Only one day without JIM... now I can see clearly... HAHHAHAHA, just kidding.. or not.

Anyway we wait for years this, Titan is the way for me, but...

Thunderbolt aware is a must for todays Mac.

Kinda makes me question the Rocket I was just about to purchase...

I am most definitely still getting our RedRocket-X, because while it will be nothing short of fantastic to be able to go RedRocketLess on field during light weight travels, I sure want to have the fastest Post Workflow as possible, and the use of the RedRocket-X will do just that, make things all lot faster... In turn less time seating on a desk, and more time out shooting or something...;)

Picked up a BT RR a few weeks ago.

This news just adds more options.

Im happy either way :)

No, at least not officially. There are ways to use CUDA over Thunderbolt by hacking the drivers. Using a graphics card over Thunderbolt for outputting a signal the Thunderbolt just isn't fast enough. It's basically the same speed as a 4x PCI slot. TB2 will be 8x - still not nearly as fast as the 16x that is required to run a graphics card. You may be able to get some CUDA accelleration over Thunderbolt but it probably won't be worth the effort.

GPU support in Redcine-X Pro is going to empower us all, but I still think the new Rocket-X is going to play an important role here. Especially if the industry you are in is focused on delivery speed and turn around time. Both of these things might even be able to be used in conjunction, which could be insane with some of the new storage and processing hardware coming down the pipe.

And remember, we're getting SATA Express, Thunderbolt 2, and USB 3.1 in the near-ish future. We can kind of already look at interesting workflows based on this.

Speed is going to get a bit speedier not long from now. Faster I/O, RCX with GPU support, Red Rocket-X. Exciting stuff.

Thanks, Jarred...Great news.
I knew that modern GPUs are up to the task of displaying around 500 MPixels / sec. This is just a formal confirmation.
