Just wanted to share here some issues I had with my Epic-M, nothing that ruined our shoot but some weird bugs.

Here is the set-up:
-Epic-M running Firmware v1.6.34
-DSMC Side Handle
-Bomb EVF
-Red Brick with 2b to 1B cable

It was impossible to boot the camera with the EVF plugged, starting light fixed on orange. So I had to unplugged the EVF, boot the camera then plug the EVF and it finally worked.

Every time I'm ejecting a SSD, after removing it the menu freezes and I can't navigate into it, only option is to insert a new SSD and press the Rec Button, after pressing Stop, the first page of the menu appears in the screen and I can navigate into it again.

Anyone already experienced these issues?

I will upgrade to the new firmware today and check if these problems are resolved.

It's no big deal, for my last shoot, the camera worked on the beach under hard sun or pissing rain for 10 hours every day during a full week and these minor bugs are the only thing I can complain about. Never had a single dropping frame or message error. These Epic-M are really solid!

If i ever had something go weird on my Epic (which is rare) I just re install the firm ware and that generally fixes it

Yes, but chances are that's just masking a bug that's sitting there somewhere that RED would probably really like to know about (and so would you when it comes back to bit you in the butt!)

I'd definitely still report it, and send in your logs so someone can actually fix the underlying issues.

I had a faulty EVF cable and just to see if it was really faulty, I connected it to EPIC and Epic didn't boot. As soon as disconnecting it from the Epic, Epic booted up fine.

That could be an explanation for the booting issue, I have to say that my EVF is sometimes working bad with my Red One too and I have stuff like some weird aliasing randomly... I need to find another cable to try or maybe to buy a new one...
Now, I need to figure out an issue for this SSd thing that locked my menu after ejection...

Quick update, I've made the last firmware upgrade and I still have the same issue when booting with the EVF or after ejecting the SSD.
I've also replaced the Red Bricks with the Redvolts but it didn't changed anything.
Red team, any idea?

Also be sure to download the firmware again from the support site before re-installing just in case the version you have is corrupt.

your camera has a 2-year warranty, use it. call RED support.

they will either distance diagnose a solution, or they'll call your camera back in for repair. I'm sure they would rather have you take this to them, than to continue posting your bugs on the forum.

I will but this is what I call minor bugs, I can still use my camera every day and I think Red Team have now more important thing to do than dealing with that...

Even if this is a minor Bug, no matter what part of your responsibility (its on your agreement signed before the EPIC M was shipped out to you) as you are not only a EPIC M owner,
but also a tester and with this come the responsibility to report to RED, not here!!

I can sure give you plenty of good advices, since I have been using the EPIC M cameras for some time now, but the best advise I NEED to give you is to CONTACT RED, and retain from posting what can become
speculations for others, and RED will always give you the fastest and safest response to insure you are back shooting BUGS FREE, unless you are in a Swamp full of Mosquitos... ;)

I have not experienced any of these problems. I did have some other issues and called the RED support team. They had me re-install the software, still no fix. RED took the camera back for 3 days and fixed the problem.

Tell the support crew at RED. They need to hear about issues with the camera.

Grazie mille for your answer Ketch, as always I will follow your advice.
Lucky I am, I'm not in a swamp full of Mosquitos!

My pleasure Vincent, its that I fill our responsibility as M owners is that of assisting RED taking care of any BUGS, so that they can continue to make better Updates with fixes if needed,
but also the responsibility we carry as early adopters of this M program wit EPIC, is to not alarm the community.

He he, I have been in plenty of them, especially with Tom Lowe...
