Soft images

Hi all,
I've noticed the last few projects that at close inspection the images from my Epic X feel slightly out of focus and soft. Have been reading up on back focus adjustments etc but it doesn't seem to be where the problem is. I'm aware Red cameras don't add any sharpening in camera, but it mostly looks like the lenses are unable to dial in to a critical focus, just kind of grazes over the sweet spot when rotating the focus dial.
Anyone experience the same, and if so any knowledge of what the issue might be?

I'm shooting on an Epix X with RPZs 18-15 & 50-150mm

Without posting an image or an r3d it's virtually impossible for people to help you.

Check back focus. Check lenses on another camera. Test camera with a known working lens.

Check
Compression,
aperture,
shutter,
downscaled vs. orginal resolution,
Windowed sensor vs. full resolution,
slo-motion shutter angles,
pan speed,
tungsten vs. daylight lighting.

all of these and many other factors can contribute to soft images.

The 18-50'ies I have been in touch with have been extremely specimen specific as to character and sharpness.

If at all possible, I would test with some confirmed "standard" primes like Zeiss Ultras/Masters, or Cooke primes, at the same length and aperture to see if the issue is the lens or the camera itself.
