  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Social Network...

Why not Red Pro Primes that have the 5k compliant (plenty for 4.5k) image circles? Regardless, a huge compliment considering Fincher has the choice of shooting on anything.. film, genesis, viper, f23...etc. Congrats Jim!

I don't know and just speculating.

Also "Panavision now offers
choices among 31 spherical
Primo primes, 4 spherical
Primo zooms,.."

RED just have 6 lenses in its set.

With all the 4k shooting, 4.5 shooting and beyond. What would be a good or the best 4k Projector I can hook into the RED Rocket™? (and a 4k Projector that is not going to weigh in at 245 lbs.).

Joseph,

Did you see the new Sony released last week?

With a couple of the right lenses, it will do both 4K and 2K 3D via single lens.

I just got permission to say that Social Network, directed by David Fincher, is officially being Shot on RED. They have prototype RED ONE cameras with Mysterium-X sensors. The cinematographer just sent me a quote to post...

Jim

"To say that RED and the new Mysterium-X Sensor is impressive is tantamount to saying that Napalm is a little itchy. The sensor’s increased resolution is an obvious bonus but the expanded latitude especially at the high end and the dynamic color range makes this camera a tremendous asset to any cinematographer’s arsenal. The Mysterium-X’s amazing ability to handle both mixed color temperatures and low light situations affords us exciting opportunities to push the boundaries of our craft."

Jeff Cronenweth, A.S.C.

OK Jim...then, bring it to your first hour kamikazes supporters network :) :) :)

Antoine

More seriously,

It a great idea to not wait the EPIC final, and test the new sensor righ now.

...plus, it proves the upgradability is "really" real :)

Just can't wait..."really"...

Cheers!

Antoine

High end digital camera like an EPIC that has a sort of "LEGO" modular type of product design

it needs for each that part of the module minimum one year of intensive

testing that have to be done in every kind of production circumstances or also climate situation.

It's about technical standard that everything has to be optimized with the highest quality

and then later to be ready for a big volume production that must include the highest control.

Just think about it more before and be ready for the announcement at October 30.

The T420 will burn a hole in your skin, as well as in your pocket. - Carsten

Carsten,

They are rated at 20k lumen, but you can reduce brightness. It doesn't have to be pumped up that high.

David Fincher helped pioneer the digital workflow with the film Zodiac. It's a major win, as the industry looks at the thought leaders in transitioning to digital cinema cameras.

So, just curious (if you can answer)... How many X'd out RED One bodies are out in the wild right now?

thanks.

later,
Jason

I mean this in a good way. The joke is on Jeff C, if only he had used the R1 on other features of his he would have realized a long time ago that the Red dynamic range may have not red on charts but it for sure paints a beautiful picture
