  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Social Network...

Thanks for the link Humberto. Interesting read indeed. True or not, how can you possibly ignore a film by Fincher and Sorkin, two of the best filmmakers of our generation. Looking forward to it.

I was reading The New York Times on-line and I came across this article that may be of interest to this thread http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/21/business/media/21facebook.html?hp

not cool if they make stuff up when it's supposed to be based on
real people..we get the "Hollywood sensationalized version"..
apparently one party scene has girls offering cocaine off their
breasts..which according to the NY Times article is made up..so wrong.

The film is also sprinkled with scenes of extravagant parties, and it is not clear how authentic they are.
But a person who was involved with research for the film, and spoke on condition of anonymity to avoid conflict with the producers, said that sequence was one of several that were mostly made up.

You mean you haven't been to a party like that? Man, you need to start twittering and facebooking more. Dude it's all about social networking!

LOL

I've read "The Accidental Billionaires" (what the movie is based on) and it's far from an exhaustive journalistic account. The author, Ben Mezrich, seems to churn out these ready-to-sell-the-film-rights "true" accounts, but when it comes down to it, his reporting is lazy and the books are ultimately frustrating because of this.

My hope was, and still is, that the filmmakers would strive for a better more truthful film version. Both Fincher (Zodiac was nothing if not exhaustive) and Sorkin (The West Wing has been praised for capturing the feeling of the white house if not the exact details) are not known for ignoring the truth and are careful when it comes to portraying real-life situations.

That said the company has a tumultuous past when it comes to its founding. You're going to get conflicting accounts.

To me this movie never did nor does it now come off as a documentary, or true story, it's a movie plain and simple, loosely based in the real world If I were facebook that's how I would have dealt with it not the way they did.

Everything you see on television or in the theater is true. Really happened that way. Really.

Yep, and it's only thanks to the talent and incredible luck of bands of roving camera crews that we can get to see any of it at all.

Maybe they are rolling Epic cameras in Sweden at the moment...
