Recently directed this small POV spot for Adidas, the budget was tight so the DP coined an idea to shoot with a Scarlet Dragon, and it turned out this little camera still has what it takes.

We shot with a single 16mm Ultra Prime at 5K FF, with a pro-mist on top and some NDs as needed.

Nice! High energy! How long did this take to shoot?

Thanks Samir! It was a three day shoot, one day at the apartment, one at the actual semi finals event and a third one to shoot all the field game stuff. Could've done it in two but because we had to shoot part of the spot during a real Tango League event we had to adjust.

Great work! How was the color grade achieved? was the look mainly from the pro mist filter? Color looked great!

very cool work, .. love it

Great stuff! Love the energy. Reminds me of Nike's Take It To The Next Level spot from a 2008. Cool to see Sean Garnier in there too— did a shoot with him years ago, incredibly nice guy.

Great work!
Now hand over the BTS!

Thanks, Michael! We spent something close to 9 hours grading the spot, our colorist went all creative on this one, we didn't have any particular color references here, just the general understanding that the image shouldn't be too washed out. Promist has definitely added some softness to the image as we desired, in some scenes that required tracking in post (phone screen) I wish we used less hazer smoke or not used a Promist, that combo caused some headache for our composting guy for sure :)

Really nice work! I loved the energy in the edit! Do you have pictures of the POV Rig used?

Thanks Hans! The POV rig wasn't an actual rig at all, with shots where both hands are in the frame at the same time we put the camera on our actor's shoulder and he leaned his head as much to the left as possible so we could move the camera closer to where the eyes should be. In that rather uncomfortable position the actor was then doing his thing. As for shots where only one hand is present and game shots - our DP had a barebones camera setup on an Easyrig equipped with Serene, he was pressing the camera as close to his chest and as high as he could get it close to the eye level as he could and that's pretty much it.

We tried to make a POV rig with a BM Micro Cinema Camera, but the helmet the rental had wasn't optimised for action shots like we wanted to capture so we threw this idea out of the window and just went with the camera on an Easyrig.

I'll try to find some BTS pictures and will post them here.

Thanks Jordan! Sean is the nicest guy indeed, he was pretty exhausted after the real event when it was our turn to shoot him for the spot, but still, he never complained and coined the idea to shoot this special "high five" that he did.
