Here are some stills from our latest short film, Harrison's Closet, written by Alex Whitmer. We decided to set it in the 50's. My wife was the Director, Art Director and Costumer. She did an amazing job, especially with this only being the third film she's worked on. I think I did a decent job on the DP end with much assistance from my crack lighting crew.

These grabs are straight outta dailies, so the color needs work yet, but they're feeling damn good at RC3 / RG3. Epic / Cooke Panchro/i's & 1/4 Black ProMist.

Wow Chris. These look great. How are you balancing the architectural photography? I've been getting published like crazy lately and as much as I can't complain about having work, I'm trying to stay focused on making movies :)

Beautiful work as always Chris, looking forward to some motion. Love the Epic and cooke combo

These look fantastic. I'm actually getting ready to shoot a short in a few weeks that my girlfriend is directing and costume designing (weird...) that is going to have a similar lighting aesthetic and be shot with BPMs. Lots of coincidence I guess, but mostly I just wanted to chime in to say a job well done!
Best,

-Harry

This shoot was every bit as fun as it looks! Can't wait to see the finished film. It was an amazing experience ACing for Chris, he runs tight set with the best crew.

The shots look great, I really like the lighting in the CU in the bedroom.

What was your lighting package?

EDIT: Just saw your facebook page. Jokers and Dedo's... great combo.

Right... we had two Joker 800's, a Kino Diva, 6 Dedo 150 Tungstens and 3 Mini-Mole Fresnels and a handful of Lowel Omnis. I brought out my Jo-Leko too but we never built it. The daylight look was achieved wth clear Visqueen over the windows as a light diffusion and then the Jokers pumped through that. All in all a fairly frugal lighting kit.

You can see some of the setups in our BTS here and here.

Thanks for the kind words!

Now we just have to turn it into a cohesive story in Premier!

I love small rigging achievements. My CamTram pusher is a repurposed baby extension and umbrella knuckle outta my photo gear. The CamTram has threaded holes all over the place to help you find the best angle. The top of the CamTram also makes the world's best hi-hat. Also we're mounting the Sennheiser G3 Receiver with a Nato Clamp & Screw on Cold Shoe. I love not having to velcro it!

I don't understand a single word of all that techno stuff, but I will say this is far more beautiful than I ever imagined it. A big hats off to the team, to the artisitc interpretation and execution, the camera dude and AC.

Just so beautiful.

And note the rotary phone!! For those of us who remember the chatty Aunt that had a number with all 9s and 0s.

Here is a little clip from dailies. I wanted to share this because of how much I love the slider move. The camera is on my 5ft Cineslider. Motion is controlled via Kessler's Oracle and I've programmed in a REALLY slow move on this. I wanted something that was extremely subtle, adding some dynamics to the scene for a hint of tension without distracting the viewer from the talent.
