  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

So what... is FLUT?

FLUT is the brainchild of Graeme.

The "F" in FLUT stands for "floating point".

If you haven't clipped RAW, you haven't clipped any ISO. Move your mid grey anywhere you want without fear of clipping.

FLUT includes another new color science. That's right. Number 3. Better than number 2, which was better than the original.

FLUT includes a new color space- REDcolor (more accurate than before)

FLUT includes a new gamma- REDgamma (more info from RAW than before)

Since an r3d is RAW, you can re-grade any old footage with the new color science.

FLUT works with the Mysterium sensor. It works better with Mysterium-X sensor.

Examples will be shown at RED Day. You'll be impressed, I'm quite sure.

More test pics!

Very cool, looking forward to more information. Will the new colorspace and gamma make it to the RED ONE before the M-X ships in a new build, or will it likely roll out as the first M-X build?

First M/M-X build.

It'll go into REDcine-X and the SDK.

Awesome, thanks Deanan. Will that update also carry with it the ability to create a .look file [or equivalent] on a computer for the camera? Or is that a separate bit of work?

its funny I cant remember if I ever bought anything electronic/digital that improved over time instead of just becoming obsolete... RED is the exception - reapply new color science to old clips... for the second time.:)

I really like that RED material, like a good wine, matures over time.

I think you mean American.

actually Graeme is Canadian... which is still North America so what the heck, 100% American

at least we've got something to offer now.
