  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Smoke and Walk

The 300mm is worth it, trust me. I've been popping the lens on at SXSW at my booth and people are speechless. It's crazy sharp....if you have the cash, put it down. And if you like the look of a rocket launcher, it makes it even better. The lens hood that's included in it adds another 5 inches or so :)

the 300 is no doubt a bargain, great quality.

There is something strange with the footage. It seems that every 3 frames one frame is missing. Frames 1,2,3 are played then jump to 5, 6, 7 then jump to 9, 10 , 11...

That would explain the stuttering...

EDIT: I noticed a similar problem with the Ladybug 3K clip also posted by Justin but i can't figure out easily the frequency of the frame jump in that clip.

How do you encode the clips Justin?

I notice a stutter pattern going on and I'm on a pretty fast machine here so not sure what can be causing this. Anyone else beside Miltos seeing this?

I didn't notice it until I looked for it. It seems you can see a slight jump every third frame when viewing frame by frame.

They are right out of REDAlert! h.264 either at half debayer or full. I really don't have a problem viewing the files from my computers. Maybe something funky happened with the upload.

Justin maybe it is a REDAlert bug then. Unfortunately i am still a PC only guy so i have no access to REDAlert and don't have the slightest idea about what could be the problem.

If you look at the footage closely you will notice the stuttering too. It's not an upload error. :-) Try advancing the video frame by frame using the cursor keys and you will see that one frame is missing every 3 frames.

When i scroll through the footage I don't have any missing frames...

Err... OK...

Look, i guess it's not immediately noticeable so i will try to pinpoint exactly were the jumps are.

Open the MOV and then open the movie inspector.

go to the first second. Current time should be : 00:00:01:00 (it's easily noticeable from here on)

so we have:

Frame at 00:00:01:00
Frame at 00:00:01:04
Frame at 00:00:01:08
Frame at 00:00:01:13

-<! JUMP !>-

Frame at 00:00:01:17
Frame at 00:00:01:21
Frame at 00:00:01:25
Frame at 00:00:01:29

-<! JUMP !>-

Frame at 00:00:01:33
Frame at 00:00:01:38
...

If you play those frames rapidly with the Left and Right cursor keys maybe you will notice the Jumps. If not, nevermind... maybe it's a QT problem or something...
