  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

SmallHD 702 + WC Director Monitor Cage + custom CAD/CNC fix

I'm just able to put mine together as I was out of town on a gig when mine came in. I'll post pics later. As other have said the packaging was surprisingly well packaged, basically as if it came straight from the manufacture, the instructions along with Nick's first post made it easy to put together, the parts themselves actually feel like they are better quality than the original cage ( I have and would def recommend the Pro-Aim one especially with the parts from this GB) they are lighter than the original parts but definitely feel stronger.

Nick was great, frequent updates all along the process. I'm not sure how it could have gone smoother. Great fix, thx for doing this Nick!

Got my parts from Nick yesterday and (partly) put my rig together. (Still have to mount the Teradek RX on the back) First off, it looked like it had arrived from a full-fledged company making these, not an individual. All the parts and screws were individually bagged,
there were detailed instructions and he even included 2 different size allen keys for the screws. All the parts are extremely well manufactured it appears. It all went together very easily and now the cage is rigid and
strong. I always liked this set-up but it only lasted about a month before it started flopping around on the pivot points when someone would carry it around for more than 5 minutes. I don't see that being an issue
anymore. Just wanted to say thanks to Nick and to the RedUser family in general for constantly coming up with solutions and helping each other out. It's very much appreciated.

Daniel

Daniel,

What stand mount bracket is that?

Finally had the chance to open my package and install these parts. KUDOS to Nicholas for a great solution! Rock solid and perfect alignment. Very happy with this mod! Thanks again!

Just had a request for two more kits that are going to get made up this week. The buyer is happy to pay at the $215/kit price, but if anyone else wants to jump in, we should be able to get to the 5+ rate of $175. Please let me know asap with serious offers.

UPDATE: we've reached the $175 cost.

hi taylor - thanks for your interest. there's a batch getting machined right now. the parts are about to go off to anodizing so i would need payment from you straight away to make sure you get a kit. the price is $175 inc. domestic US shipping. i'll pm you the details in a moment.

I'm also interested, is it still possible ? :)
with international shipping to France
I can send payment right away

Hi Rémi - Thanks for your interest. I PM'd you last night.

Nicholas-

For those of us who are interested but don't have the WC cage, will you plan to offer a full kit? Or is that not in the works?

I can certainly start looking into that. Are we still working with the the 700-series? What receiver/battery setup are you thinking?

Nicholas-

Yup, 702. My battery setup is the SonyL or Canon LP. I know that SmallHD now sells an adapter for V-MOUNT or GOLD MOUNT, if I ever go there it would be V-Mount. Anyway the design accommodates any of these battery setups?

Wow, what genius engineering! I'm interested as well, hell yeah! Thanks for coming up with that, Nicholas.

Is it possible to get all parts in black?
