Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can give me their impressions on the small HD 1703 P3X. I'm contemplating buying one but cant find any available instore near me for me to demo.

It will be used mostly for focus and sometimes client monitoring. The main issue I have with other small HD monitors compared to sony and panasonic is that the image completely falls apart in dark scenes, especially when using a wireless signal, so I'm wondering if the p3x is any better.

Thanks!

It's been my on set main whip for a bit now and I strongly feel in terms of their larger displays it's one of the best they've made. The P3X is a different beast then their previous 17" efforts by a good long mile in terms of color and contrast. Calibrated it's a decent on set and in the studio IMO. And I can send an HDR signal to it and monitor it effectively when needed.

It's an LCD, so not the deepest blacks of an OLED, but it's pretty much the best thing in this range for me. If you are "just" using it for focus and client monitoring I have no idea how you would be unhappy with it.

Wireless is often the tricky one depending on what is sending the signal and if it results in any blockiness or whatever, but in practice I haven't experience any real downsides here.
