Hey guys - my Red Top Handle grip is very loose and slips when I grab it. Is there a preferred way make it stick in place?

Thanks!

I was wondering the same thing. Basically the rubber expands over time and when you grab the handle it slips over the aluminium. It can't slip off, of course, but it doesn't feel nice and solid anymore.

Has anybody tried gluing? I am afraid that when you apply glue and try to slip the rubber on it will get stuck half-way and things get really messy. RED really should sell the rubber sleeves separately.

I ended up cutting the rubber off which accomplished 2 things.
#1 I can get my fat fingers between the handle and the ET cheeseplate without using the ET handle risers and
#2 I can clip on my easyrig, easier. I know you can get a larger clamp for the easyrig but I've had mine for 2 years and never got around to it. Also it's going back on "friday night lights" this week where the smaller clamp works better on the SR3s.
I was thinking about wrapping the exposed metal in a tennis racquet handle tape to provide some grip but overall I like the smaller circumference of the handle.
I answer to you original question, I'd just squirt some glue in there. Preferably a rubber based one.
Regards,
Shane.

I'm thinking of trying either some silicon adhesive that I got from the pool store for rubber and metal repairs or the stuff they use to put golf club grips on... seems like this is the exact same task.

Either of those don't cure fast enough to stop a grip from sliding on all the way.

I'm kinda liking this idea. I should have some extra tennis grip here. Or baseball bat tape. Or gaff tape. Maybe tennis grip with foam liner underneath. Kewl.

My grip on the top handle didn't come loose. But down here in the sweaty South, the rubber covering was just too slippery. So, I replaced it with the Redrock top handle. I swapped out the baby blue grip with a black bicycle grip. I like it a lot better than the RED handle.

Ok this is going to sound nasty.

Don't pull the rubber off, instead, just "wrap" it behind, so it folds back onto the handle. You end up with half the handle covered, but with double the rubber, then apply glue, and put the rubber back and et voila, no spill, no "squeeze", that's how we glued ours and it worked perfectly.

Anyone using the ET Cheesestick? I find a lot of users still choosing RED handle versus ET version. Any reason why?
