So I'm kind of in the market for a slider.

The thing is, I'm thinking that what I'm looking for is sort of too 'in the middle': too high to be low end, and too low to be high end. . . and I can't seem to find anything that fits the bill.

What I'm looking for is basically a beefier version of Kessler's cineslider. . . Something sort of in between that and something like the Birns & Sawyer Cinepad.

-Sturdy
-Lets say capacity in the 50-100lb range
-silent
-single centre point mountable
-not crazy heavy (it needs to be feasible for single operator shoots).

And somewhere between, I don't know. . . the $2500 - $3500 range.

The heavy duty Cinevat option seems ok in some respects. . . but las time I tried one of their sliders it was frickin loud as all hell, and I'm not a fan of the fact that it can only be mounted from the ends (vs. tripod mounted in the centre).

Any thoughts?

don t take the cinevate, the only advantage is the modular lenghts. Too ;uch noise, the steel rods can be eqsily damage. or... take it, but take mine !

I used for a few month the Camagrip slider which is perfect and silent, and dolly mountable. Not for sale in my country though, but as I know the maker, he agreed to sell some unit worldwide with my account here.

Shane Kelly here as a slider which seems really fine somezhere on the board.

I like my myt works MYT Glide. It's pretty quiet, very lightweight, and very affordable. The only issue you may find is that when you start putting 50lbs+ on a slider only mounted on one tripod is that the tripod will flex. Something like a fisher doesn't, but all the tripods I've tried have flex where the legs meet the head bowl.

Both Shane's and that MYT Glide look great.

Matthew: What width do you have? If I can get away with the 7" one, 4' for 2k looks like pretty good value.

I have the 7" (Med) MYT Glide. It worked great with my RED and a Sachtler Studio II (150mm) head. Now with the epic, it's even lighter. They say it's rated for 50 lbs, but the guy told me the med is rated for 75 lbs.

Jarek, I'm a slider designer and wanted to ask you what you disliked about sliders. Perhaps you have been victim to poor slider designs. Please share your thoughts.

These sliders are not inexpensive, but they are well designed and ultra quiet.

They have features that the other lack and the build quality is unmatched.

Phil is knowledgeable, honest and an all-around terrific guy.

I also believe that he may be selling used rental units at this time.

Andreas, I sent you some photos of my slider prototype. I apologize if the attachments were large. I'm hoping that you see the detail and the build quality. i don't use any cheap materials. i know the pains of field production!!

I've just unboxed my Kessler Cineslider and it's really nicely made. The Oracle controller and motors for realtime or time-lapse are also a great addition. Good customer service too.
Can't wait to put the Epic on there. My RED 1 would certainly be too heavy. Manuals could be better.

Track In the Box now has the perfect solution for rigging and mounting the track using ordinary grip equipment. The new "Rack for the Track" is just what the doctor ordered for this unbeatable system. CamTram/ Track In The Box, accept no imitations, ask for it by name. www.trackinthebox.net

I own a Camtram which I absolutely love!!! However, once I received my CineSlider from Kessler I have used it less and less!!! Kessler all the way!!!

Hi,
I own a solidgripsystems twin dolly, very strong, well build, uses proprietary rail system for the slider, I have the 4' length, it's a bit heavy for one person operation but then again it can take heavy loads and 150mm bowl heads. One of the best attributes of the rig is that you can use traditional truss as rails also. We have been using a 2 meter-long truss with it. Very quiet.
I recommend it. www.solidgripsystems.eu
