Significant Update...

Great, it seems we are back in track. Finally I get to spend the money I have saved under my bed for 4 years for an epic-x. During that wait, I had so many thoughts to spent it in something else . From nice converitible muscle car, a trip around world or fancy gear that I would love to have but I really do not need, but I could think anything that was worth more than an EPIC. It will make shooting more proactive since I don't need a crew to move around. SIZE MATTERS!!. Thank you for the heads up. I hopefully all the additonal items such as the side handle and other goodies are available for sale before Jan 2012. Bummed about the nikon mount price, but I guess is the most solid and secure way to go. One for others. moving along and happy!

Maybe this has been addressed in this thread, but don't have time to read through it all now.

Can we get a status update on the Epic Pro I/O Module?

Since the standard I/O module development was discontinued there has been no official statement from RED about the Pro I/O module, even though several people requested information about it in the Epic X Update thread.

Since then, RED has announced a Proxi Module, and Allstar has come up with some innovative solutions, but I'd really like RED to confirm that:

1) The Pro I/O Module is still in development
2) If it will be available in September timeframe when Epic X hopefully starts to ship. If not, when it will ship.
3) Final specifications

The price increases are totally understandable and reasonable. And Jim, thanks a million for the well in advance warning...very generous!

BTW, in my search I see that Red Volts weigh 252 grams, but does anyone know how many watt-hours they are rated at and typical run/recharge times? Am I correct in assuming they are lithium-ion? I'm trying to determine air-travel regulations for them.

Hey Ketch

do you know how long the bigger RED volts will last?
If they last around an hour that would be killer.
Then RED should make an battery holder for just one XL Volt so the Epic Kit can stay as small as possible.
I really want to keep my Epic as small and light.

Thanks man

Tim

Not tested the XL Redvolt yet, only the standard ones, and we got some were form 15 to 20 minutes on them, we were also shooting HDRx and 120 @5k to 300 fps @2k,
so this does have a big impact on the battery life, vs. shooting 24fps.

1. EPIC-Ms are being built at a rapid pace. There is no waiting if you want to buy an EPIC-M starting tomorrow. Supply is limited. Just remember that these are still pre-production cameras and firmware upgrades will be necessary to enable some remaining features. EPIC-Ms have a 2 year warranty.

You can now order the EPIC-M package on RED.com.

I have to ask..... what on earth are you making the side handle out of that is forcing the price to go up $800 !!!?? Some of the other items seem reasonable but that seems pretty crazy. Appreciate the early heads up on the changes for sure but a handle for $1750 seems way off the mark now ?

Thank you for the "significant" update!!!
Thank you for the stage 3 upgrade!!! Huge!!
Thank you to keep the prices up to 2012!!!

Well thank you!
All the best!
Antoine

The EPIC-M case is made to work with EPIC-M package products. As far as EPIC-X, you will just have to wait and see options for that later on :)

Hmm might hold off on pre-ordering THAT part then :-)
thx mate

Wow Jim, this is really amazing. I am SO glad I opted for Stage Two. Not being able to swing an M variant, I am thrilled with what you folks are offering us. Looking forward to getting an X soon. If I added things up right, I'm getting a $44,000.00 camera (rounded) for $19,500.00. Holy cow. And I get to keep my original. You're crazy nuts, but I like your math. Thanks much!

When will the Nikon mounts be available? I'd like one of them also.

30Wh for REDVOLT and 90Wh for REDVOLT XL. (per the manual)

I currently have four REDVOLTs and plan on getting another four when they are available for sale, plus the quad charger.

Thanks Stacey. As I recall, there was no limit on number of carry-on lithium-ion batteries if under 100 Wh; or am I just dreaming?

+1 for hearing if the EPIC-S is going up, and I seem to be on the boat with the other EPIC-S guys, if it goes up we are sunk.

I'm saving to buy a 15K camera so I can get it by DEC, but if the price goes up I may have to wait/look other places. Id gladly put down to get a lower price for next year tho.

Also +1 for Canon mount timeline (if possible)
