Any idea of which Sigma lenses are functional with the Raven? Looking into getting the Sigma 18-35mm 1.8.

Our 18-35mm covered the Epic Dragon in 5k, so I think you'll be good!

the 18-35mm is phenomenal on the raven, i just got this lens after hearing about it for so long and coming form only ever using cinema lenses im still in shock on how well it performs. now the new 50-100mm is a total fail in my opinion, i returned after testing it for an hour, it literally looks like it zooms while focusing.
im still looking for a replacement.

Yeah I was pretty bummed on how awful the breathing was. Compared to the quality standards of the rest of the Art lineup it just didn't do it for me.

Yeah, it seemed like the perfect focal length for the Raven. Just wanted to make sure it's sharp all the way though to 1.8? Thanks for the feedback.

RED specify in the operating guide (which you could download from the website) all lenses that are officially compatible with Raven including Sigma lenses, the 18-35 is included in the list:

Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC HSM

Sigma 15mm f/2.8 EX DG Diagonal Fisheye
Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 DC Macro OS HSM
Sigma 18-35mm DC HSM

Sigma 20mm f/1.8 EX DG ASP RF
Sigma 24mm f/1.8 EX DG ASP Macro AF
Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 IF EX DG HSM

Sigma 28mm f/1.8 EX DG ASP Macro AF
Sigma 50mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM

Sigma 85mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM
Sigma APO 120-300mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM
Sigma APO 180mm f/2.8 Macro EX DG OS HSM

Hope this helps.

The 18-35 is phenomenal in my opinion. Sharp all the way through even wide open, although I have only been using it on C300's or C100's for the most part. I haven't tested it on anything higher res myself but I see tons of RED footage with it that looks amazing.

Bummer to hear the 50-100 wasn't good Jordan. I had high hopes. Glad you got your Raven. Can't wait to see some footage.

Hey Jordan - does the 18-35 Sigma vignette at all on the Raven at 18mm? Thanks! I'm very keen to get it too.

To be fair, not everyone hated it. Discussed extensively here:

Has anyone had any luck on lenses wider than 18? I don't have my raven in my fingers yet, but I'm already nervous about the 1.75x crop.

not at all, and sharp all the way through.
i thought there was no way id hate the 50-100, until i tried it, man its bad. and for only 50mm of range id rather have two primes im thinking.

btw, the physical texture of the sigma and the Raven actually look like they were made together, could be a fixed lens!

Good point.

All APS-C lenses should cover the sensor quite nicely. The RED Raven 4.5K sensor is smaller than APS-C in terms of surface area, so any lens that covers an APS-C sensor also fully covers the raven sensor. I made an image circle comparison for you guys to see what I'm talking about.

In fact, APS-C lenses with lower edge performance might end up looking better on the RED Raven because of the smaller image circle it uses...

BTW I compared it to Canon's sensor size. Nikon APS-C is larger, so it's even less of a problem when using lenses designed for Nikon because they need to cover a larger image circle. Lenses which are design for both like the SIGMA fall into this category as well, because the optical design doesn't change for the Canon/Nikon models so all SIGMA DC lenses should be even safer to use on Raven than this image suggests.

EDIT: wth, I just added the Nikon sensor.. ;)

I haven't played with a Raven yet but the Tokina 11-16 will compliment the Sigma's focal range perfectly

Yep yep. The zoom combo I'm running:

Tokina 11-16
Sigma 18-35
Canon 24-70
Canon 70-200

Maybe I'll invest in a prime set as well.
