This set appeals to me, I’d love to give it a try. It’s not that I need t1.3– it’s that I just don’t love the image from the Sigma cine t1.5 series, much as I admire their technical capabilities. I often prefer vintage lenses, or choose Cooke if the desired look is more crisp and “modern.”

I’m sure tasteful post-production color work is part of what I’m responding to in their launch video, but what other specific optical characteristics go into what they’re calling an “organic” feel?

I like the current line of Sigma Cine Lenses very much (very well built, full frame, high speed, free of defects and not as crisp as other series of modern lenses), so I'm looking forward for this new set of lenses with a renewed interest.

I recently had the chance to test the new SIGMA AIZU Primes on ARRI Alexa Mini LF and Alexa SXT and wrote an article for "Camera & Light" magazine here in Spain.

My impression is that they are not simply fast lenses: T1.3 is genuinely usable, with strong resolution but without the harsh, overly clinical rendering that some modern lenses can have.

Color felt mostly neutral, with a slight warmth that I found very flattering on skin tones.

Contrast is medium-high and well controlled, while the flares and small imperfections give the lenses a more expressive character than I expected.

The focus falloff was one of the most interesting aspects for me: smooth, gradual and very elegant in Large Format.

Bokeh is creamy and circular in the center, with natural cat’s-eye behavior toward the edges.

Overall, I found the AIZU Primes to be refined, practical and visually elegant lenses for cinematographers working with large-format digital sensors.
