  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

SIDEKICK - can it be set to make the MENU changes visible in EVF & other displays?

I just got my Weapon EVF and Im not able to get the nice red line under all the camera functions at the top of the screen in the EVF like I did with my Bomb EVF. Ive tried every combo on the Monitor pages of the menu but can only use the Side Kick to change things like shutter, ISO and color temp when the Weapon EFV is plugged in. I can't figure it out as it worked before and I was able to change my priority to monitor and all before but now it only works with the Touch Screen.
Anyone else have the new EVF experience this?

When you hit the MODE button on the sidekick what does the sidekick show as the Control Monitor?

Russ, read this thread from the top, that was my original question too.

The switchblade (DSMC) and sidekick (DSMC2) are functionally the same; they only differ in form factor. You can use them to navigate menus on any external monitor or change most of the camera setting directly using the menus on the device itself.

Maybe I'm just an idiot and need to push MODE or something like that, it didn't work that way last time I used it ;)

Sorry I see that now Milan, Thanks.
Yes to Trent the side Kick works as normal when you press the Mode button and you can toggle back and forth from using the side kick to control the menu functions or hit the button and then have the menu up in the the EVF or LCD but the issue seemed that I could never get the Red underlined function to pick my settings in the EVF for some reason..
I have it working now but I can't say for sure what I did to change that. Or repeat the process.
I did upgrade to the latest 6.2.51 and then went trough the normal Monitor setups to adjust the way I wanted the EVF to work. I have a feeling that when I rebooted the camera the changes made in the Monitor menu, IE EVF2 settings seemed to take hold. Is that possible or am I just confused.

It's not the most intuitive nor user friendly system.

Mine is still randomly prioritizing displays, it sometimes can't distinguish between the EVF and LCD on start up. Unplugging and plugging back in usually works.

Wish it would simply display the red underline in ALL displays attached to the camera with overlay selected. Other than possible hardware limitations, I don't see a good reason for not having this function.

It pains me that I have to unplug the EVF in order to make changes on the HDSDI monitor.

I think the reason behind having the choice to underline or bring up menu functions on different monitoring is so you can choose what is seen coming from your camera for different monitors...
if you don't want the clients in Video village to see what your doing on the camera end and then starting the fox in the hen house situation. Which Is why I try to not have any thing from the camera info or menu going down stream to the video village..

^^^^ This would be GREAT!

if you don't want the Vididiots in Video village to see what your doing on the camera end and then starting the fox in the hen house situation. It has in the past really add a lot of not needed comments to the mix when everyone starts to add their 2 cents worth in to change the camera setup to their liking... Which Is why I try to not have any thing from the camera info or menu going down stream to the video village..

To me it would be possible to have it visible always when having overlay on the two none SDI ports of the camera... touch and EVF are usually not seen by the video village. But yes I would love to have it on all even the SDI as default. So much struggle when not having a screen attached or just the EVF or such.
