SIDE HANDLE LOCK NEEDED

While we're here, I have to say... an option to assign the audio levels to a hot key would be fantastic... and a default hold-two-user-keys to enable menus over SDI would be a LIFESAVER.

We often shoot without a Red monitor, just a TVLogic and side handle, but every firmware update means I have to head to a rental house to control my camera again... why does the side handle currently default to zero control when there are no menus over SDI, but comes to life once they're enabled?

No guarantees but we are playing around with the idea of being able to map a keypress to a preset. This, along with more granular control in the create preset dialog should allow you to accomplish both those scenarios (and hopefully any others you guys can dream up).

As of version 2.0.8 (the current BETA) you can apply a preset at boot-up which should allow you to setup menus over SDI without renting a touch LCD. The default values make sense for some situations but not all. It's very difficult to come up with a set of defaults that everyone will be happy with with whatever combination of peripherals they happen to have installed. That is why I am a fan of using preset files to customize the camera for your needs.

Yes it works.

The touchscreen unlock also works.. You just need to press and hold the lock icon again to unlock. You may try a slightly different angle (perhaps we should open up the size of the touch area).

Yes i know this Trent. No matter how many times, angles or sizes of fingers it locks permanently and doesn't respond to an unlock.

if you push and hold the 2 buttons at the same time on the front of the SSD module you can Eject the media properly.

It's way to easy to hit a button on the side handle and mess me up while shooting! My AC bumped it just going for the roll button 3 times on one shoot.. I just said take the damn thing off..

Agreed. I love the handle and keep it on the camera all the time, but I disabled almost all the buttons for now because of this. Too easy to push one without event noticing, and then bang, your whitebalance has changed, or your RC setting, or you're viewing the RAW and you don't even know.

It will be in the next major release (not part of the 3.0.x releases) along with many other usability enhancements. I don't have a timeline for you - but it shouldn't be too long.
