  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

shut up and shoot that Scarlet

Hey @Mike

I was pulling myself - without a follow focus though.
only filtration would be Vari ND on my stills lenses :P
Wish I had, had a 1/4 promist or something though.

I just remembered about this "behind the scenes" that one of the crew's friends made:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQG5Nxt8fvg

Wow, even more impressive! This is so nicely low key, it's almost unbelievable :)

Which Vari ND are you using?

I'm using a Marumi 77mm vari ND.

@Mike.P
I used to have a Switronix battery plate on camera but it broke and I replaced it with the belt pack.
I don't see myself going back to using a V-lock on camera - most of the shoots I do are run and gun and the lighter I can keep the camera the better.
I try sit the camera as far back as possible so it counterbalances itself.
I've been renting the ET Mantis rig and WC rig recently and they work well for that purpose.

That was great!

I watched that the other day Brad and thought it was well made and amusing. Just watched it again and actually found it funnier on a second viewing.

Critically speaking, I liked the way the visuals and narration worked together, constantly being able to see in action what the narrator was talking about.

Overall, it looked skillfully shot and graded to me. I thought the colourful visual style was well suited to the content and would have to really nit-pick and over-analyze the film to find fault with it visually.

BTW, don't worry about the lack of responses here on Reduser or the internet in general, there are all sorts of reasons for that, it's not always due to a lack of interest or appreciation of the work itself.

thanks Les and Samir,

I appreciate the comments, it's not that I'm looking for praise so much as I saw the opportunity to share my work and show people what i'm doing. With all the group buys and gear that passes through this forum every day I just wanted to contribute and have a dialogue, maybe someone had some Q's about what went into the production etc.

I have a bunch of stuff that relates directly to a fairly big portion of the user base here and finally have some work to show that was done using all our gear and in a really quick turn around so I just thought i'd throw it on the forum, looks like it makes more sense to keep an already established thread going which is all good, just want to contribute and give back what little I can to the community, this place is a wealth of knowledge and info.

No worries Brad, thanks for showing what can be done and adding to the knowledge.

Thanks Matt. After playing around a bit, that's the one I settled on as being the best balance of style and naturalness.
