  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Shut up and shoot that RED (NSFW)

No Nudies in the Dragon thread...

But this is full of it.

Eternal question:

Color or B&W?

Why?

Series here

I really like the color one, which is odd for me because normally I dig black and white. I think for me it's the colors of the shadows into the texture of the snow that kind of does it for me. I love the juxtaposed lady in skin outside in the arctic air. The blue on the left ads yet another layer and so for me this is easy, color hands down. Way more going on.

...Silly or cool?

Seeing as I think silly is cool a lot of the time, I couldn't really say. I think that's a good treatment of that picture though. I prefer the ambiguity of the silhouetted form in this version to the straightforwardness of the other one. I think there's more going on in this version of the picture, in the way it gives the viewer more to think about, creating a puzzle to figure out in terms of what it is they're actually looking at, but also raising questions about bodily perceptions in general. Visually, I find the combination of contrast and tones and gradations in this version more interesting too.

thanks Les!

going through a lot of material these days to present some of it in a structured way. this image kinda... irrritates me. but it is not THAT good. just bugs me. i like the ambiguity of this solution, and then i dunno... :-)

i think its very sensual, not silly or cool. i really love ur glamour shots

For me it's the colour contrast here that makes it impossible to go B&W. If it was all one colour up there then I wouldn't worry about it, but since the blue plays against what I will call Gunleik Green so nicely, I'd say you should keep it.

Mastery of that fluorescent feeling green has continued to escape me. Just yesterday I was trying to put some green into some highlights, and I can just never get it to look nice the way the Matrix looks nice. That green is in a ton of Gunleik's stuff, he just makes it his own and makes it work.

I like the green I got on Anxious Oswald Greene, but that's a blue green which is very different feeling than Gunleik Green.

I don't think that other shot is silly. For one thing in a world of played out poses, I have never seen that one before which makes it fresh and interesting. It makes me wonder what you can get with a bigger subject to lens distance on a longer lens with otherwise the same setup.

Thanks for the input, guys.

When I am done with what I am currently finishing, I will work a bit more on get material out in an organized and presentable way...

But this film is turning cool (shot on Epic last summer...)
