Hey Reduser,

While using the Epic-W this morning we noticed a few flare's that were not very pleasant looking. Along with the green flare, we are still getting a serious headlight issue.

Does anyone know if these are addressed in the IPP2 preview?

Please let me know!

Thank you,

Whoa, that's kinda funky. Please post an R3D. If you can, post one before the shift, one at the peak of the shift, and one after. Without the R3D we're all flying blind.

Camera and footage are fine, that's just in the way data is interpreted and developed.

Are we not watching the same clip? The camera clearly crushes the blue and the red channel's.

It's not the camera, it's the data mapping and transformation you are using to see its material.
Switch to Log3G10 gamma and RedWideGamut and you'll see nothing is crushed.
It could also work with RedLogFilm and RWG.

Tested with RWG, 3G10 and IPP2 LUT. That's a funky r3d man. That's almost certainly a hardware fault. Or an anomaly. I had some issues with my Epic-W off the bat, I tried to replicate the problem to check that it wasn't just a one time thing. Turns out I had a hardware issue and send it back in (which was incredibly painless BTW). That would be my advice, replicate the shooting conditions and see if you get the problem again.

To note. IPP2 should fix those headlights, have done tests and in my experience it clears up that weird colour clipping.

We did a few runs of the same shot and all of them seem to have it. I will try to re-create the sunny flare on our next sunny day and see how that goes.

Thanks for the input, I really appreciate it!

maybe I missed this but what lens was used, also it seems no ND was used in this? The colors are ok to wrangle, to me it seems like a weird color cast possibly from the lens and/or filter and the helium sensor is seeing it. Kind of like the shock I got from shooting my milvus lens wide open in a very dark environment and seeing purple fringe. Once I got some advice on d2g4 vs other ways to developed raw files I was able to get it all in line. I messed with this a bit and I would consider this acceptable, especially if using still glass with no nd, v nd, or less than great nd.

color temp and tint are your friends, tint specifically when you get used to what it does. nothing worng with -.05 shadows too

oppppphhhhhhhffff just took a look at the other 3 r3ds, wow, those are bad, do you have any of the headlight. Call your local Red Store if you have one, seems like there is an issue for sure

Interestingly enough, the RCX One-Off build is having some noticeable purple artifacts on the green frames, but not the normal ones:

This glitch doesn't appear to happen in the current stable version of Redcine-X Pro, so who knows if that means anything.

I checked those in RCX and Resolve. My mistake. Those two are messed up.
Did you do black shading between taking those or made any changes in camera setup or you just took consecutive shots with everything being the same ?

I believe all 4 R3D's are actually one take, check the video above in original post, to see how it changes before the flare.
