  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Shrek is eating my Helium sensor - Epic W green flare

Look's like the red channel just completely dips out.

Hmmmmm....

Hey Zack, did you see it change on the screen when you were recording it?
Or only in Post?

Zachary, please file a support ticket so we have an official record. In the meantime, I have the right folks looking at your R3Ds as we speak...

Thanks for the response Brent. Graeme has followed up via PM and I will be submitting a support ticket. The R3D's are from the same clip, I could capture R3D's from the other 3 clips that it happened on. We were using an ND but I don't believe that caused it. The ND was fully enclosed in a zip box. 1.5 IR Schneider ND.

Thanks Zachary!

Graeme

Zach I didnt get to watch the sample only test the r3ds before, that is wonky! Hey, what did you use for that move?

I have this same issue on a shoot last week.

I can confirm that the camera was properly black shade. We were using NDs but we compensate for what with Tint and we were using Lomo lenses.
All the same set up for the rest of the shoot, no problem what so ever.

Im almost sure that is not either a filter, lens or color science/gamma

For us it happened in a very similar condition. When the sunlight strikes on an specific angle into the lens/sensor.
We have the same problem in almost 10 takes.
On our shot is like 10 frames because the movement was very fast but it could easily ruin our shot.

I'll put a R3D snap when i can and do some test to see if a can force the problem to happen...

I think RED team should take a look at this asap...

Martin, we have been looking at it. We have been unable to replicate internally. Please file a support ticket.
