I know this pandemic has been here for quite some time and I haven't seen so much shors of the situations recently. I'm not really sure I want to see one as I've had to deal with anxiety the last time I had to see some shots of patients grasping for air. How do you deal with these emotions when you have to take shots like this?

I witnessed someone dying of cancer (that and the cytotoxic poisoning caused by their treatment). I was sad and angry that this is even allowed to happen. I was angry that I was not told that they were like that before I visited. But, I eventually took solace in the pain, as opposed to resisting it. I reminded myself that God, whatever God is, is always watching.

You have to take these experiences and let them make you stronger. Not cold, or uncaring, but stronger. Life isn't always safe and soft. Our job as individuals is to navigate an unsafe world, not to run away from it and cower.

Our predecessors, and in some case ancestors, faced machine gun fire head-on in 1944 on the beaches of France. They experienced torture in the Pacific as prisoners of the Japanese. The American Revolutionary Army faced a harsh winter and typhus in 1776. Millions suffered during the Dust Bowl years. Your question is a worthy one, but ultimately, a very general one as well.

Hi Karim,

Thanks for your response. That is very enlightening, and you are right. There's so much that has happened and will still happen in this world that is cruel and nobody can stop them. I guess I just have to learn to control or work with my emotions toward these things and be grateful that I don't have to suffer as they did. Bless them.

This world is cruel and full of pain. Most people are turning a blind eye. Yes, we can sympathize and help if we can, but don't get it inside your head as you may be depressed.

The words "voyeur's dilemma" have been used regarding the documentary coverage of tragic events and even made it into the dialogue of a feature film which dealt with the troubles in South Africa. This article is probably as useful as any as a commentary on the topic.

A variation on the theme is the commissioning of cameramen by terminally ill folk to film oral autobiographies and testimonials for the loved ones they must leave behind. That can be a uniquely challenging and confronting to undertake, requiring a careful unintimidated approach but also as worthwhile and fulfilling an experience as camercraft gets to be.

I agree that this world is cruel, I just hope things will get better soon. Sometimes the situation gets in my head, what can I do to avoid that?

I will check it out later, thanks for sharing the link. Are you already vaccinated?

It's not something that you can fix overnight, but a good place to start is by trying to understand what is the fundamental explanation for everything. I don't mean anything specific, I mean something fundamental. If you have read or watched The Secret, you will understand where I'm coming from. You don't have to agree, but it's worth exploring that aspect. IMHO, the Law of Attraction explains everything.

Anyway. My two cents.
