  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Shotover Camera Systems with Red Epic

Used it 5 days ago .... Up in the back mountain country of NZ.
Was very impressed. And so easy to use. I had 5 minute lesson.. And nailed every shot with a 24-290 at the max.
Very impressive rig.
I liked it when I can set it on a target, I could take my hands off the controls and it practically locked on to my target @ 290mm... So steady in fact, it was equal to shooting from a tripod but we were doing over 90 knots getting buffered by thermals.
I won't use anything else from now on.

WOW, toss up some shots Mark.

Ben,

Thanks for putting the footage up. Any stabilization used in post?

I recently used the Shotover Camera System six axis gyro stabilized helicopter mount with the Red Epic.

I have put together some sample footage and a blog post:

No post stabilisation.

A couple of the shots are from when we were in transit at full speed... I was just shooting what I saw, and still very steady.

I agree with Mark. There was almost no learning curve. It just works how you expect it to.
