  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

SHOT ON RED Film Festival Submissions Open

This sounds great. Quick question: what if the majority of the short film was shot in 4K, but a few scenes were shot in 3K and 2K to unitize the higher frame rates on a Red One, would it still be eligible? Thanks.

I'm submitting my short film 'How I met your Father', that got a mention @Sundance 2010. I've already recovered the original footage and started playing with it.

That's from june 2008, original sensor, redcode 28, I think:

4K DCP Specifications

4K DCP Specifications

Hello,

What are the specs for the 4K DCP? We have a 2K master in Interop that we sent for a few european film festivals. Which standard (SMPTE or Interop), frame rate (is 23.98 acceptable?) and 4K resolution (in our case, for the 2.39 aspect ratio) should we use?

I only ask because I have had trouble before on previous screenings.

Thank you!

SMPTE is the standard we are looking for and 23.98 frame rate/2.39 aspect ratio is good

Hey Brian. I didn't see this published anywhere, but would you like everything zipped up or all three filed uploaded similar to this:
-philHollandMovieTitle_EPK.pdf
-philHollandMovieTitle_submissionForm.pdf
-philHollandMovieTitle_proRes.mov

Thanks,

Phil

Phil,

Go ahead and email the PDFs, upload the .mov file. Look forward to seeing it.

Brian

Submitting "Lenny Lump".

My first master in 4K :)

Hi Brian. I just uploaded my experimental short FREAKY FLY, but I received a message saying that it could not replace another file. I had tried uploading it another time before, but it stopped and I had to start all over. Is there a way to verify that then entire 1:19 4K version of the film uploaded correctly? Thanks.

Admittedly I only scanned the submission form so the answer to my question may have been hidden within somewhere. But assuming the talent doesn't cancel at the last minute (again) can I shoot using a 48 fps time base? Other than longer render times for post work will there be a disadvantage to entering as 48 fps? I know the Festival will be capable of projecting this, but will they?

Submitted...

I am on the road and don't have anything but a h264 1080 available untill Nov 13th, but I hope that is ok for screening...

Cheers

G

Hi Brian!
Just wondering because I also got the error message when uploading the screener.
Please, can you confirm that you got the Lenny Lump (both 4K version and screener).

Exciting times... :)

Lenny Lump is received and I will let you know if we have any issues with playback. Thanks for sending it in.

I was about 10 hours into uploading a 25GB file for "The World After" and it died about 36% into the upload. I attempted to restart the upload but I am getting "permission denied: overwrite". What happens if the upload fails like this?

Thanks for the help.

Phil

Good idea. Just checking if there was an "official" way. Upload attempt #2 locked and loaded.

Yeah, you're gonna wanna get it sorted out properly through RED/Brian, I just figured it'd be better to get the ball rolling on the 2nd upload attempt sooner, rather than later.
