  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

SHOT ON RED Film Festival Submissions Open

I just might submit one we just shot last weekend... Now let's see if we can pull off all those 4K VFX by then... Great opportunity to say what great times we had shooting 2 EPICs and 1 Scarlet with no hiccups whatsoever anyway :)

she is so HOT...

Dunno if this is proper to ask publicly, but...

I am fully capable of delivering a 4k screening master for the festival, if that was to be the outcome, but on this notice... Not for preview.

Just sayin'

Same question. Is it possible to submit a low-rez screener and then deliver the 4k master if/when accepted?

I would love to submit our short film "Public Service", but there's no way that post is going to be finished by November 9. I don't think we'll even have a picture lock at that point. It's the first narrative piece that I've directed on Red.

I already asked the question and was told no. Really unfortunate since this was sprung on us so quickly...and post is not a quick process, nor is it a finite cost especially in 4K. Sure there are work arounds to technically generate a 4K master but a 4K QC'd master in under two weeks? Seems like Mission Impossible.

You can submit a lower resolution screener for approval as long as the final deliverable for the festival is 4K.

Great news! Can we submit the screener to the red ftp? (For films longer than 15min I mean.)

thanks Brian

Brian, I'm curious - how low is low res? And what low res file types may we submit for the screener? Don't want the file to be rejected as the submission form states 4k only. Thx

Hey Brian and Jarred, how about adding a student category in the future? We have some good looking student films shot on RED, but of course they are all low/no budget, so it's hard for them to compete straight up with bigger productions.

Thanks Brian! That makes things a whole lot better for us. We will definitely be able to send something out for the deadline.

We've had our feature screen at 6 festivals so far, and next Friday at the American Indian Film Festival in San Francisco where we're nominated for 4 awards. Thus far the screenings have been BluRay on 2K Christies and the film looks great -I believe in large part due to the extra resolution we're downconverting to...anyway, I would LOVE to have a 4K master, so here's hoping!

Sen - friggin - sational news this is!!

Shot my short film "Bolero" in 5K, including the stuff I Twixtored to 1500fps (opted to shoot at 120fps to preserve rez) - fresh off a Best International Short nod from the Raindance Film Festival earlier this month:

My short's 15 minutes and 15 seconds long - hoping Mr. Henderson holds to his above-mentioned word that I can still send via FTP even though it's technically over 15 minutes :cheers2: Will prepare 4K for exhibition :-)
