I don't like the skewing, but I really like the way it handles exposure, given that it's a small sensor. Very impressive. I mean, there is no work to do on this footage. None. In the future, people are going to have to get used to zero post processing, for some shoots anyway.

Grading iPhone 12 Pro Dolby Vision HDR footage in Resolve

By Post. Color. Gear.

This is simply silly. I'm not going to go though all litany of misstatements and terminology confusion, like using compression instead of a proper term for PQ gamma encoding.
The bottom line, you can't grade Dolby Vision on an SDR monitor. Tone mapping is only a rough guess on a part of Dolby Vision as to how HDR tone mapped image will look on a proper SDR monitor. That's all.
Using SDR monitor for HDR grading is akin to using small reference speakers for sound mixing:) And for god's sake, if you're doing SDR tone mapping at 100 nits, why would you use 1000 nits waveform scale???

Jake,

I apologize, I hadn't watch the video yet to see if what he said was correct or not. Judging from your response, he screwed things up. So I will delete this shortly.

No need to apologize.
Internet is full of "professionals" who is attempting to teach without a firm grasp of the subject.
I actually gave up watching the video after about 15 minutes or so.
I think it is better to leave it as is for those who may be curious as to how NOT to do things.
This is just a public service on my part:cheers2:

Alright then, I saw all the things you mentioned, and I see what you mean.
