Any way someone can create a separate section that is just EPIC? I really think a lot of people would like this..

Shot on Epic X...Shot on Epic 647...Shot Epic S...Shot on Scarlett...Shot on Red M...Shot on Red MX...What else ;-)

Yeah I did asked directly the boys some time ago about this, upon receiving our EPIC M8...

Come to think further bout it, it could be as great idea as a bad one, however ultimately it sure is RED's decision to either add one or not, and then think about the other Formats as they come out... ;)

I think the point is SHOT ON RED.

Maybe it's more important that it is a red camera than to tell people it's an RED M, Red MX, RED Epic m, RED Epic X, RED Epic S, Scarlet, etc.

I'm more interested in being part of a team called RED than telling everyone it was shot with their most expensive or least expensive product.

It's elitist.

The big letters on the camera spell RED, the little letters spell Epic. I think that says a lot right there.

Plus, what are we going to start doing when scarlet shooters blow our socks off with what they shoot, too bad it wasn't shot on epic."

I'm sorry I think this whole idea is dumb.

"Shot on RED" is fine with me, cause its not a lie...all those cameras are RED :)

But I think it would be cool to see "Shot on RED" as a forum category, and "Shot on Epic" "Shot on Red One" "Shot on Scarlet" would be good sub categories. Just easier to see the different samples and progressions from one cam to the next in an organized fashion.

But honestly, the way it is now is fine. Either way is good I think :)

Merits to both approaches:

1. Shot on RED is inclusive keeping the class warfare to a minimum
2. Shot on Specific Model shows the capability of both DP and equipment

When I see a kick-ass film shot on an iPhone I give it extra props so I don't agree with the premise that Scarlet movies would receive the response of "shoulda used an Epic". In fact, I see the opposite occuring whereby the pressure is on the Bentley driving Epic owners to match up with the young upstarts hanging out the window of their Kia to get the shot with their humble Scarlet. Don't remember anyone saying Nocturne would have looked better on Panavision . . .

Or like on DVXuser, where you can select a option to put "EPIC" or "SCARLET" before the thread title.

Check out the marketplace on dvx, you'll see the "FOR SALE" headers.

Jason, wouldn't that be easy to transfer over?

+1 to this.

Anyway, usually users who post in the shot on Red section mention wich camera they use.
What's the point?
Is there not enough sections on that forum?
Best and peace

The community is going to be sooo big and there are going to be sooo many camera models out there that I vote for "Shot on Epic".

Just a easyier way of getting the right info.

No apartheid here.

Wow, you would think I was asking to rename the camera?

I like to see what was shot with a specific camera.. I understand that RED is RED, but each camera has a look and I personally want to see specific things shot on EPIC.. And yes I'm lazy.. But not the point.. Ford is a car company and their logo is on every car, would you test drive any car with the logo or the one that you want to buy?

There is an EPIC section in the store, should the change that back?

You can misconstrue this any way you want.. But all I was asking was for a specific area dedicated to a specific type of footage..
That's all.. I wasn't trying to reinvent the wheel..

Well David,
while I definitely do agreed with you, I also stand to my point which originally made me ask for it, which is that EPIC, even so a "RED" camera is on a different Level then say R1,
and definitely a different one yet from SCARLET... We'll go with what ever RED decides to do... But to me it would make sense to have a SHOT on... Specific RED Camera,
as this would more so put the capacity of each of the DP's and or Cinematographers using them as spot light, either way, every one puts on their tittles Shot on Epic any ways... So... ;)

It's always funny to see this kind of request which gets more answers than the real threads which showcase movies/video clips shot on Red... I know it's great to own a camera, whether it is a Red One non-MX or an shinny new Epic, but it's even better to show what's been done with this camera... Sure, it's harder, especially when it comes to the real artistic stuff, and not the usual commercial one, or "pouring rain in 300 fps and my dog/my wife/my kids in 3d" clips ;-)

Never thought it would get a response at all honestly.. I just wanted a section . Wasn't looking for debates.. I guess the powers that be are not reading this?

Justin, unfortunately there aren't a lot of people interested in what's really done with a Red once it has been bought ;-) But, if categories are truly needed in the "Shot on Red" section, in my opinion there should be "Tests", "Features", "Music videos", etc... Whatever the Red camera used, because even if it's a camera forum here, the most important thing is the end result.

By the way, looking for debates is the most interesting thing on an internet forum. You should try someday ;-) Just kidding...

films are frequently shot on a mix of cameras. this will become even more common with more Stage 2 EPIC-X cams being shipped. and even more so once we know what SCARLET is - and how quickly we can all pull out our money and pay for one. whatever it is!

I see a lot of footage shot on Red One that looks better than some footage shot on Epic. Not because of the camera, simply because the people operating / lighting / grading / cc simply don't cut it. So many times a click on EPIC FOOTAGE in here or on vimeo, just to look at it and think "wow and why did you buy this camera?".

:)
