  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Shot on EPIC section instead of just shot on RED please

You are right. I shouldn't have an opinion on this it's really a question for RED.

So, I actually have no opinion on this.

They could have a shot by "professionals" section if they wanted.

It doesn't really matter that much to me but when I first read it I cared enough to post my thoughts. Next time maybe just ask that only the RED team answer your thread, then I'll know not to share my thoughts.

That's not entirely true, but I don't think making it a big deal is the right thing.. It's just another area for people to post.. It will have no negative effect on the group, it will showcase the specific camera.. Is this right for everyone? Maybe? Maybe not.. I just think if Jim tells EPIC users to post more footage, then even though both RED cameras are GREAT, there is a difference and people want to see it.. That's it.. Very simple.. A place that is dedicated to the EPICs footage..

Justin, unfortunately there aren't a lot of people interested in what's really done with a Red once it has been bought ;-) But, if categories are truly needed in the "Shot on Red" section, in my opinion there should be "Tests", "Features", "Music videos", etc... Whatever the Red camera used, because even if it's a camera forum here, the most important thing is the end result.

By the way, looking for debates is the most interesting thing on an internet forum. You should try someday ;-) Just kidding...

I like to see what people can do with a tool no matter a hammer or screwdriver.. I just like to know what tool they used to mend the fence. I disagree with you that other people do not want to know whats really done with a RED camera after purchase..

Fair enough. Believe me. This ain't personal or anything. I see your point of view. I even like your avatar.

The EPIC reel is probably the best example of EPIC footage I've seen. That and anything Mark Toia and a few others post, much of what gets posted does not do the cam justice.
Plus there are more factors than the camera. Like we could have a EPIC shit on canon glass section, or and EPIC shot on Nikon section, or Masterprimes, or RRPs.

Maybe just in the shot on red section people just let everyone know what it was shot on with what glass as a courtesy to the community.

I don't know. It's really up to RED.

What you say does make sense, but honestly this is a RED camera forum, let the discussions of lenses and such branch out from what camera they were shot on.. I think it really helps people educate themselves.. Can someone shoot something REALLY CRAPPY on EPIC? HECK YEA! Hard, but possible! hahaha

Time will tell.... ;-)

My suggestion:

Remove the "old posts/new posts" RED circle from the left and replace it with a model picture/logo/text that user pics when he makes a new thread. Bolded topic title already shows that there are new posts in the thread, even more clearly in my opinion (I've never looked the red circle before).

Or leave the RED circle and remove the paper icon (seems quite unuseful) and replace that with the camera icon.

Or remove both and replace with the camera icon.
