  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Shot on Dragon

Great work Michael, very clean indeed. What ISO was used in the party/cocktail shots? Was there any kind of noise reduction added in post?
I just received an email from RED for my Dragon upgrade and like many people here I want to find out more about any noise issues the camera
may or may not have, but looking at your images makes me feel very good about the upgrade.

The party / cocktail shots where shot at ISO 1000
NO noise reduction used / lenses used between 1.2 and 1.8 aperture

Hey Michael,

Haven't you heard ? You're not supposed to be able to get images this nice looking out of your camera. It's apparently unusable, unbookable, the noise intolerable and therefore the images practically unwatchable. It should be sitting on a shelf somewhere with MX getting the work instead.

Than again, maybe you got lucky and your sensor is from a "good batch."

Okay, I kid the noise-conscious among us. Seriously though, REDuser could use more examples like this to help people try to at least also acknowledge what's great (and not quite as bad as some are making out) about these cameras to help balance the conversation.
 
Yes its very nice to have a thread with nice not under exposed shots and no noise complaints! I think Gunliek needs to make a "shut up and shoot your Dragon" thread of quality Dragon shots, help make people understand how awesome it can look (like your great example as well here)

Hi Brian, yes I have heard and I see the issue. And I have a ticket open with RED.
But it IS A GREAT CAMERA. There are quite a few people out there complaining about a Porsche 911 as well, for my it is one of the best cars out there. I could always look for something not good with a product or I can see what it makes possible for me.

Its all about attitude
