First shoot with the Scarlet today. Been waiting a long time for this. :)

Some stills (light grade in Redcine):

Hi Niko,

Stills look great. You have the "exact" same WC handle/config I've got on. (Though I went for the cheaper black rubber) However I'm still waiting on my touch to shoot, so would love some feed back form you.

* Can I ask what plate you have on top. Easy top x/plate?

* Hard to see, but looks like you have a side handle on already as well - can I ask are you holding Scarlet a little out in front so you can have the LCD at a perhaps more reasonable distance? (I've seen a few Epic rigs push the LCD further up out over the lens) If you are holding her with arms a little extended than that naturally strong and stable "elbows in" position, how has the weight/stability felt? I've been considering this a lot and I'm thinking of rigging the WC side handle diagonal out the front and then adding another side handle left rear to get that machine gun hold feel for strength and stability, and also to put the LCD a little further away.

* How are you finding the off set with LCD in genera? Most people seem to rig their touches straight in front.

* Are you running with the 7" cable? How maxed out is it with the LCD side mounted where it is? Don't suppose you still have another couple of inches of play?

* Also just wondering what lens the stills were shot on?

Thanks for sharing mate

Best Wishes

Lliam

Heh, I didn't know anyone on these boards were familiar with our work! I've been on here for years, so it's neat to see that some of the people I now recognize from the forums happen to recognize us.

I'll get some better pictures of the rig today, and post them this evening. This will be day 2 of a 4 day shoot, so I can also post more impressions as we go. The camera rigging is all from Wooden Camera. It's a pretty basic, inexpensive setup. Also, I'm running audio trough an H4n, which is the white cable you see. I'll show a better breakdown of that soon as well.

Lliam, when I'm back from shooting this evening, I'll respond to your questions specifically!

Andrew, I do indeed know Matt. How do you know him?

We're using the Easy Plate XL from Wooden Camera. Works great!

We have the WC side handle diagonally back a little bit, so our right hand on the RED side handle is forwards, and our left hand is back a touch. It balances pretty well with the batteries on the back and lenses on the front. With our elbows tucked, shots are really stable. We just bend the screen forwards and down so we're looking down at it. Really no issues with it being too close to our faces. This setup isn't too stable when you go for high shots, though.

* How are you finding the off set with LCD in genera? Most people seem to rig their touches straight in front.

We've been running an FS100 for the past six months, and the screen being located on the top of the camera's body is limiting. You can't see the screen if the camera is above eye level! Side position is better.

It's pretty much maxed out.

The super wide one is the Tokina 11-16, and the rest were on the Canon 17-55 2.8. We've also been rocking the 70-200 IS II 2.8 which is also a great lens, as well as a 50 1.4, which is great for low light and lots of shallow focus.

Here are some more pics of our rig. I initially had the Zoom recorder screwed in to the easy plate, but then the screw worked itself out, and the recorder fell on the ground and cracked one of the top mics. Now I have it tied on, which looks super ghetto but works super great. The shoulder mount you see Sam using is pretty crappy, so I don't really have any advice there. :P
