  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

So... I decided to join the Inner Circle (mostly because I want to see what his reveal is all about). I feel pretty ripped off and I haven't even had a chance to see what his teasers are all going to amount to. I respect Shane's work and I don't fault him at all for trying to make a buck (especially with the amount of content he's kicking out that has a reasonable amount of value) but the following things really, really rub me the wrong way:

1. When you sign up for inner circle access you're immediately sent an email with your username and password. The password is obviously stored as plain text which is a huge security issue (no site should ever be able to send you your password - that's why most sites either issue you a temp password or they have you create a new one entirely). To be fair - I emailed Shane's team so hopefully this is fixed soon.

2. Any of the content previously released on the site before you start your subscription costs anywhere from $5-$10 dollars each to access. That seems incredibly excessive seeing that a monthly subscription is less than one piece of previous content. I did not see any of this clearly explained on the sit or during sign up.

I post this more for people to know what they're getting in to since a lot of people are interested in joining for the weapon reveal. (I know this is slightly off topic but it does pertain to weapon news (or hopefully it does...)
 
Hey Shaun. That sounds expensive for the previously released content. I was waiting for someone here to say he released info then I was gonna sign up, but nothing yet huh?
 
It's an $8 tax write-off... I figured what the hell. But I figured I would pass on whatever info I could to anyone else that may be interested in joining.
 
I'm gonna be pissed if it isn't weapon related, but it has to be...

That's rather silly, especially considering it's not really noted on the subscription page. Definitely would rub me the wrong way as well, considering all the of the highlights of things you have access to... Makes it sound like there's a wealth of knowledge for a subscription... Not a walled-garden.

Are you sure? I didn't have this issue and had full, free access to previously released material. Shane posted in his Twitter (or FB, can't remember) feed that there might be some hiccups related to the new site. Maybe this is one of them.

Man... I hope you guys are not paying up for subscriptions in hopes of getting Weapon info. As said before, no one is going to spill the beans before Jim/ Jarred do it here.
 
He is correct. I joined earlier this month and the content I get starts from On Set With Shane: Day 9 and newer. Everything before that has to be purchased. Funny thing is I had access to everything yesterday before the new site switch over!
 
When they switched, things were sort of messed up. I didn't have access to stuff that I should have. But, in the last couple of minutes, it is all working. Nice new format. I hope Shane gets to spill a little bit of the beans with Weapon..... Maybe, he'll open the box, Jared's head will be in a "prophecy ball" from Harry Potter telling of the new Weapon...
 
I just read an article where he rigged a 24" monitor up to act as a wireless rig to chase a Movi around... Maybe he's just trolling? (Or maybe I'm missing something. Obviously the guy has done some stuff - just seems like a lot of his articles/videos go the heavy handed route)
 
Maybe they were experiencing people joining for 1 x month ... and then downloading All the content only to 'quit' the following month?

Maybe a better model would be you Pay 1/4 the price for each historical month you want access to too .. and then you can unfettered access to that month ... and so not such a 'bad taste' for new joiners to swallow.

Peopl joining and canceling wouldn't be an issue of the content was solid... (Not saying it is or isn't. Just saying that the best way to eliminate the problem is to provide quality content for reasonable cost)

hahaha no kidding. Not sure when this "Secret" reveal is supposed to happen but he took the time to release 3 teasers about the release so there better be one!
