  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Send good audio to RED EPIC

DOn't do it..
get an A-box, and at least a Mix-pre... if it has a mic level out..
DONT expect good results from just a cable to brain from mixing board in live sound venue..
you want to be able to adjust or mix the feed down to a signal that will sound good on your camera...
you either need to charge rent on it, or be resigned to loosing jobs for poor results..
Other cheap option... get a digital recorder that takes line level in, and use the headphone out to send a low quality scratch track to brain.. then in post use the digital recorder's audio track...

I could not disagree more ! Funny, I just come from an opera concert where 40 mics where used and because I found an attenuator line to mic, the sound is just perfect but it all depends who is "feeding" you!
I just need the attenuator to be INSIDE the BRAIN
 
ALL camera types are bad choices for audio recording, compared to double system sound with a live mixer monitoring, adjusting, and recording to as many tracks as possible..
M1, Scarlet, and Epic cameras are great at PICTURE.
they are occasionally adequate as recorders of REFERENCE audio.

Can you assign a track to each mic inside the brain?
Can you adjust relative levels of the tracks that are in the camera while rolling? (Actuallly, does anyone know if this can be done? maybe thru REDMOTE?)

Seriously, guys.. I shoot and I record sound.. I get better sound on a dedicated recorder than I do on any camera.
 
Does it still not like to be fed a line level signal from a mixer witout a line attenuator? Not all mixers can switch between mic/line level output.

Brain is mic level only. Unless you have the new XLR OMOD or Redvolt expander.
