I placed an order for Scarlet on Saturday 4th and started to think what I could do with 1K - 120fps.
Voila!! what if I could choose what area of the sensor to crop, that would give me many creative possibilities.
What more? What if I could program it to capture a certain amount of frames from a certain crop area and automatically jump to a different crop, and another until it loops back?
It could be a great creative tool, a new "Scarlet look."
If you put the Scarlet on a stick and shoot 8 x 1K frames from different crop areas to form one 4K frame of different moments in time that would be cool.

Oops, I mean 16 x 1K to create a 4K frame. Wow, someone would need to come up with a "1K to 4K matrix plug-in" for FCP, Resolve or AE.

If this is something that interests you I'd highly recommend looking up "slit-scan" imaging. If this is new to you, it's basically a way of taking "scan lines" from different points in time from a motion sequence and arranging them back into a new sequence. Think rolling shutter, but to the extreme. By moving the subject and/or camera you can effectively bend space and time.

Be careful. You may open up a black hole somewhere. And people already hate potholes in the road. Experiment at your own risk.
