  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Schneider ND Group Buy

Visakk, there is no reason why you couldn't go with the 4x4 filters using DSLR lenses (BTW: I do have 3 of them new if you are interested PM me) but what you want to consider before buying 4x4 is the if you also are going with PL mount lenses and a MB 4x5.65 capable then you are better off sticking with the larger filters to insure full coverage of the front lens diameter.

***I have the final answer on the filter deal and the answer is "YES" ***

I have a better price of about 35% from list pricing which puts the filters from the $150's and also 45% off list pricing on the B+W filters for DSLR lenses for those of us that also like to use their DSLR lenses on RED or Photography.

I have to do a separate posting as it also must include DSLR lenses filters specs.

But for anyone in this post interested please PM me and I will PM back the Contact info for the filters purchases.

Again joelnet, I wish I had seen this before and I know of the work you put in to this and those that have already purchased at higher prices, so forgive me for not presenting this earlier and hope that many can and will take advantage of this.

Best to you all.

Ketch, Thanks for the advice.

Like many I am not sure what to buy now and later.
The test results of Nikon lenses is pending, I am sure I will not be buying PL lenses, except to rent them. in that case I will have to rent filters.
I will let you know if I am going for 4x4 filters

Again we appreciate the efforts that you are taking for the REDUsers

Thanks,
Siva

I'm leaning towards a .3,.6,.9,1.8 kit based on some light meter tests in my area at 320-500 iso.

Joelnet- I'm curious to know what kind of testing you did, and how that led you to think .3, .6, .9, 1.8 would be the best set. Did you end up getting this combination? If so, would you make any changes to it? Are you stacking them?

I just went outside with my light meter and tried to emulate shots I thought I might want. I think I was getting a F45/F64 split at 1/48th in bright daylight (Arizona daylight) at ISO 400. So cutting 6 stops isn't out of the question.

I think you're going to want as many ND's as you can afford so you can dial in any shot.

The problem with very heavy ND's like the 1.8 (or stacking filters to get there) is they are hard design to be truly neutral. I've heard through the grapevine Schneider is redesigning their 1.8 and you probably won't be able to get one until Feb. sometime. I couldn't get one.

Using a very heavy ND vs. lighter ND's and smaller aperture should be tested to verify there is no negative impact on image quality.

Hi Joelnet

I´d would like to have Schneider ND´s 0.3, 0.6, 0.9, 1.2, 1.8
Size 4 x 5.65
How about delivery time?

Best regards
Steen Linde
