Brand new to the RED forum, but wanted to share a film that we shot last Friday. It's called Scenes From An Unmade Movie. Its a series of short films. The first one is called "Size". It was shot on RED, post done in FCP with the 2K proxies, color corrected in Magic Bullet and output out of FCP at HD resolution. The entire post took 2 days.

I directed and wrote it and it was shot by Jeff Deveraux.

Would love any feedback, but love the camera and wanted to share a complete project with this group.

hilarious, loved it. Would love to see where the rest of the film would go.

Loved it! Very funny.
Unexpectedly moving at the end, also.
Great performances ... it seems really easier to find good actors there in the US.
Here in Italy actors mostly suck, even on feature films. Guess how it's hard to find good ones in an independent environment ....

That looks fantastic. I've been trying to get my Red footage to look good on Vimeo but for some reason the 720p h.264 file I uploaded looks like crap: http://www.vimeo.com/1867137

doesn't look like crap to me ... often h264 gives you a "lighter" gamma, guess if you try to get your blacks to 0 and compensate with gamma during exporting it can get more similar to what you like?

anyway liked it alot, there's something about your homemovie that reminds me of Malick? :)

Ok what the F@#ck! That was awesome! Really great performance, great cut, funny writing, yeehaw! Nice work man, can't wait to see more. That's wicked!

That was hilarious. I loved it. Is it just me, or did the color grading remind anybody of an old 70s porn. I thought it gave it a nice touch to it.

"We could tie a rubber band or something"
"I'm not fucking McGiver!"

That was probably my favorite part.

Thanks everyone. It was my first time shooting and posting on the RED, so it was certainly a learning experience. We have a few more lined up, so I am curious how the we will do with slightly more ambitious scripts.

The actors were wonderful. No one was paid, so everyone did a really great job and worked hard for the shoot.

We used some Nikon lenses. I think 35mm and 50mm? No matte box, just camera and lens. When I was color correcting there certainly was a warmer, 70's tone that I was going for. The first pass was a little oranger and really looked like 70's porn.

Jon, I looked up ratings on the MPAA Wiki and by the definitions on the web site, this would certainly be rated PG-13. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPAA_film_rating_system

hahahahahahha. very very good.

"you are like an angel" hahahahahahahahahahha

Wow!

Dude you hit the jackpot with those actors, great scene! So natural and entertaining.

I could easily watch a whole movie of this...

Please share with us what the atmosphere was like on set, what problems you overcame as a director, any tips for us students to learn from, would be well appreciated.

I'm PMing you with some work I did recently, a man/woman scene, perhaps you could give me a tip or two when you have time.

I'm sorry to say this, Valde but... this is not true. Do you know what Orson Welles was used to say about Rossellini's glory?

«His luck to be italian. All italians are great performers, after all...»

Maybe you are placed in the wrong corner. Come to south. Rome seems more friendly for this stuff, above all.
