  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

ScarletRumours at ScarletUser

So Zac got his hands on a Scarlet and has some informed speculations about production progress. No pics.

Woah woah woah. I don't know about "informed speculations", I was there for 15 minutes and made alot of guesstimates. From what I saw, it looks like it's on track with what Jim and jarred have been saying, it's going to be kickass and sooner, rather than later.

I didnt want to make it seem like jarred told me everything, i was just a kid in a playpen of goodies for 15 minutes

Yeah, sorry if I gave anyone the wrong impression. But that post, plus this:

A few weeks ago we hired the person responsible for setting up all of Oakley's production. I worked with him for 15 years. He is the best.

RED is no longer a development company. Results should become apparent soon.

Jim

have me feeling very optimistic.

Heh, no worries, I just didn't want it to seem to jarred like I was going to spill everything I saw online, just mentioned a few details of the tour.

Another forum I have to keep up with? Haha, I've never heard of ScarletUser. That's cool you got to play with one!

Shame on you...

...it will re-invigorate itself a bit more when things start to roll on a bit. Its quite quiet over there - Its a nice forum and very welcoming.

I imagine Scarletuser will pick up considerably once Scarlet is released.

I truly hope it does, and I hope that it becomes a real name forum as well. I really enjoy that you are held accountable for what you say.

I'm sure it will, but it will be hard to compete with reduser and the help that's available here.

I think we will provide a very high level of support at Scarletuser. Since the camera will be a more entry level system, I see us providing a more basic educational function with FAQs and tutorials. There are already some very good postings in the work flow section on basic exposure techniques for Red cameras using the histograms for instance.
I plan on testing and shooting with as many different vintage 16mm lenses as I can get my hands on and posting the results so people have a reference for shopping in the used market.

so, maybe a dumb question, but does it make sense to jump on that forum too? I'm waiting and saving funds for buying a fixed one, as soon as its available here in Europe, which may take quite a while from the release date in US, when it actually hits the market. Sorry for the english if its not understandable .... :undecided:

Except for a few of us diehards and mods, Scarletuser is pretty slow right now. The action is all here at Reduser.
When some of us get our Scarlets I am sure we will be actively posting our experiences with the camera in short order.
There are some good stickies in the work flow section already that might be worth a look as they deal with some pretty basic Red features.
Come on over and check it out. It won't eat your time like this forum can at the moment.:smile5:

If you're going to be buying a Scarlet then it would make sense to jump on that forum as well. Like everyone else is saying, it's pretty slow right now, but will probably pick up speed once Scarlet is released.

Never heard of scarletuser? It's been around since 2008!!

Yes, for some reason they close down scarlet forum here, and told us we would have to go over there. A group of obnoxious people then went over and took it over, and I gave up.
