I'm not able to edit my timeline as many of the files are missing. I'm very familiar with FCP and offline/online....reconnecting media etc. done it a thousand times.

this prob is different. I keep getting the error message
"the movie file A012.C005 etc" cannot be found without this file, the movie cannot play properly

I tried defragging my fibre drive, not fragmented, I tried remaking the proxies from red alert (by the way, I'm workign with proxies on this project). veryodd problem!

the files play back fine in QT. I can't reimport the files...get the same message. I'm at a loss

any thoughts?

working in final cut, latest version on mac os version 10.5.6 2X2.8 hz quad-core intel eon

project is due tomor morning btw

i've already trashed preferences...didn't help

it is effecting my ability to edit anything in this timeline. It seems to be specific clips that are causing problems. not sure why

I can't load a long & transfer window either. it just spins when I try to select this batch

I would be very much appreciative if someone can help me

Michael

Michael,

This sounds like possibly a drive problem to me...maybe the directory and/or file structure is funky. are you using SAN software?

I'd suggest making a clean copy of your red media and proxies onto a fw800 drive, along with the final cut project. Try disconnecting your fibre and opening the FC project from the external drive then re-link the media from there.

Sorry you're going through this! good luck....

I had a similar problem when taking files from another computer and matching drives.
Solution i went threw made prores files of what was missing and stuck them in place.
