  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I'd change the name to Scarlet S16. 2/3 is just so ENG : )

So many questions!

Obviously this change of nomenclature does not reflect a price cut, but how much of a bump should we expect?

Does this mean the Scarlet systems are solely S16 now? (By the way, I second the notion that S16 sounds a lot better then 2/3".)

I literally have hundreds more.
Is RED planning on holding an open Q&A on Recon, similar to the one held around this time last year?

Also let me suggest for the S35 line- simply: EPIC L, to go along with EPIC X and EPIC M.
Keeps everything nice and consistent (and cool).
 
Apart from a larger sensor or ssd's what can the changes be ?

On second thoughts, I think I read the Scarlet Brain is too small for a larger sensor ??

I like this idea but I would simplify it one step further.

EPIC (Standard EPIC)
EPIC-X (Expanded EPIC)
EPIC-LTD (Limited Production, hand made, machined body and select accessories, signed by Jim Jannard)
 
things are getting really exciting!
hoping the announcement of the different package bundles isn't too far off. I'm thinking there is a "pro" bundle with SSD and redmote pro at a slight* fingers crossed reduction in price.
Can't wait, seems pretty clear that RED wants to get their cameras in full production by NAB.
 
All good stuff. I'm excited for the changes coming, and even more excited to get my very own Scarlet S16 Fixed. (Yes, I like that suggested name change, too).:posti:
 
I hope Scarlet S16 is here by NAB if it isn't I will probably pick up the new Panasonic pay that off then get the Scarlet whenever it is here.
 
this has me scared. Epic light sounds expensive. More expensive than planned, even with the hdrx upgrade.

I hope this isn't true. I want to get into red S35 for under $12,000. With competition from Panasonic and Sony in the 5-16k range, Scarlet S35 has to win price wise. It will be competing with the Af-100, even though spec wise and image isn't even close.

But all that aside, Scarlet S35 under $12-15k will be a killer and will exponentialy expand RED's digital cinema dominance. I can't wait for day one when I can put down money.

Nothing, nothing interests more than a S35 sensor. With F3 and AF100 nearby, all the rest is useless to us.
 
Im delighted to hear the end of what I always called "the EPIC Killer" in the Scarlet S35

I think that camera cannabalized EPIC and would be bought by the "good enough" crowd and would make it difficult to push the frame rates of the EPIC-X. BUT now as EPIC - Lite it makes the EPIC-X that more valuable (perception wise) and this is a good thing for those of us investing over $150,000 in future cameras.
