  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet-W has Begun...

i preordered the raven pkg within the first 12 minutes and no allocation yet.
they should really concentrate on making the packages happen for the people that jumped on the raven way back in sept, especially if you ordered in the first 15-20 minutes.

I think they're doing exactly that. I talked to my rep yesterday, he said that they're expecting to get the Raven -> Scarlet-W switch orders all fulfilled by the end of March. Whether or not they'll succeed is uncertain, it sounds like they're fulfilling orders a bit more slowly than the reps were hoping.

I ordered pretty quickly after the Scarlet-W announcement, so it sounds like I'm fairly high in that queue, but won't be hearing any updates regarding my status before the first week of April.

well im talking about just fulfilling raven order pkgs before scarlet switchers, i stuck with the raven!
 
Also, I hate to be "that guy", but what I've been hearing a lot lately is that RED said they'd ship packages *to Raven switchers* by the end of March... however:

March 2016 for Scarlet-W Package.

I know I've been a bit salty about the Raven switch priority, whatever it is what it is. But it's funny that the announcement I originally preordered based on (preordered within the first hour or two) has NO mention of Raven priority or that those of us who are non-Raven or non-Scarlet-D would get shifted back to April (or later?). I just saw "delivers March" and figured I'd be in there as an early preorder. Now I honestly have no clue when the camera will arrive. I'm sure they are ramping up and that they've had a ton of orders, so hopefully we see some progress soon.

As long as they don't approach BlackMagic levels of delay, I'll be OK! haha.

It sounds like they have started shipping packages to pre-order customers, not just brains. Hopefully that's correct...

well, though im eager to get the raven in my hands, im glad the scarlet-ws are out there first and people noticing bugs, like the vlock expander and some batteries but most of all not even being able to edit the footage properly. so the last thing i need is a headache with the footage, so maybe it's a blessing and all this gets worked out before the camera is in my hands, because im going to want to shoot immediately!

Not trying to create unnecessary work for ya, but would it be possible to post a 5K 24p clip? I could answer my own question if I could crop into 2k on a regular 5k clip and see the noise. Thanks for the help so far, and no prob if you're busy with other stuff :) I think the thing I'm most confused about is - I've seen 2K 300 fps footage from the Epic before and it looked pretty great. Definitely didn't see the amount of noise we're seeing here in 2k. So that makes me wonder if this camera just isn't quite the same level, or maybe it just need to be shot in 320 asa? The only reason I'm obsessing about this is I have one on order, and there's a particular project coming up where I could really use the super slow mo look for a few shots.

By "preorder", I mean those of us who waited for the Scarlet-W announcement and never had a preorder for the Raven (also, not current owners of the Scarlet Dragon for "upgrade" pricing/priority). As far as I've seen, they haven't even gotten through the first hours of Raven preorder-switchers, let alone days/weeks/months of Raven switchers... then that leaves Scarlet-Dragon owners... then finally schmucks like me.
 
9 days left in the month, will be fascinating and exciting to see if Red can deliver like they are hoping too. I'm sure its a house on their production lines at the moment. would be amazing to see it happening, i'm sure there are people working their behinds off to make good on Jarred's statement to try, not promise, to deliver Raven orders that switched by the end of the month.

I'm in the same boat as you... I put in a pre-order for a Scarlet-W shortly after the announcement, so I'm hoping that they do catch up on Raven -> Scarlet-W switchers pretty quickly so as to get on with our pre-orders asap. :)

About a week left of March and sounds like they're still at orders within the first few hours. Not to be a downer but at this rate getting through even the first 24 hours seems unrealistic. We can only hope they have a very very large batch getting prepped this week.

I'm suspecting that I won't be getting mine until after NAB... or best case, be able to pick it up AT NAB.
 
I still don't understand what happened to the scarlet-D upgraders who started to be served last month. It seems it suddenly stopped.
 
I wouldn't be surprised if things have slowed due to a missing component or two. However that's not to say they still aren't building the cameras anyway and perhaps by next week a huge number will ship.

Also worth noting, I suspect that the number of orders that happened in the first few hours may equal all of the orders in the following couple of days. In other words, I bet a ton of people ordered in the first few hours.

The 4.7' display alone has a 2-3 week backorder listed on the site.

The V'lock expander and the handle both have a 7-10 day back order.

mini Mag's are 3-5 days.

Cross reference all of that with Brain production.

So Brain's can go out at a slow and steadi clip but packages are waiting on a 2-3 week backlog of parts to be called complete. (at least thats what it looks like from the outside.)

I know it's hard. I'm waiting (not always patiently) too. My bank is looking at me like I don't have my ducks in a row. In the end... we wont remember. Two years from now you will struggle to remember what week you got it.

It's entirely possible that the back-order status is due to how many of those items have been allocated to bundle pre-orders. :)
