  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet-W has Begun...

I can confirm they haven't gotten past first day Raven to Scarlet-W orders unless I have that "glitch" another user was talking about...

Raven to Scarlet-W time stamp:

yeah, i think there were a lot the night before on the 24th.

Can anyone who's received an email about their S-W being ready describe what the subject line of the email says? It might sound like a dumb request, but I feel like I'm going to miss it if I don't check every day. Plus, with over 15K unread messages in my inbox, it would be a heck of a lot easier to do a search if I know what I'm looking for. Thanks guys.

The email subject line is "Your SCARLET-W Camera Is Allocated" and the email looks something like this:

Thanks, Nathan!! Just what I was looking for.

Ooooh, now I'm a little jealous ;)

Damn! Are you sure? I know for sure that someone who has a 9/26 time stamp received their W on the first blast. It was 17:50 9-26 or there shouts and he was on the last person on the first W allocation blast. I'd contact your bomb squad rep.

Has anyone tried to order the Scarlet Dragon owner package with the Base I/O instead of the V-lock I/O? I use AB Gold Mount batteries and having to get the V-Lock package, sell that module on Reduser and then buy the Base I/O is kind of a hassle. Would be so much simpler to get it with Base I/O. Plus, it would be cheaper for RED.

Packages cant be broken up or altered. If you have already put in an early order you may find that selling the V lock will be easy.. there many customers that will be in search

Yeah, I guess I just don't understand why? It's cheaper for RED, presumably. Raven's can be ordered with the Base I/O but not the more professional Scarlet-W. It's a pain to have to sell something off to a third party in order to then re-buy the thing that you wanted originally.

I don't think this is accurate. Raven and Scarlet-W can be ordered with the Base I/O V-Lock Expander... neither can be ordered with just the Base I/O Expander (no V-Lock) as a package. The only differentiator would be that the Raven can be ordered with the Jetpack module, whereas the Scarlet-W cannot.

The Base I/O V-Lock package was meant to be a "ready to shoot" package. If they went down the route of creating a "ready to shoot" package that had the Base Expander (no V-Lock), then they would have to consider other power options. So, the package would become one that adds something like the Redvolt XL module (which would cost more, since it would involve the Base Expander, + XL Module, vs just the V-Lock). They would also be faced with people who say they don't want XL power, they want something else (like Gold Mount). So, it's not an enviable position from Red's standpoint to try and configure for everyone's flavor.

I think they put their best foot forward with the lowest-cost, all-Red equipped, ready-to-shoot package. Then the brain is there for those who want to configure using third-party components, like yourself.

They won't substitute any parts.
I am in the same boat, owning AB bats. I ordered a C Box from wooden, with a V lock on the side of the camera and AB plate on the side of the battery and voila. Cheaper than the ET plate and gives you a bunch of video out. Problem solved.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I had a pre-order for a Raven with Base I/O but I could be wrong. Regardless, I understand the idea behind the ready-to-shoot package, but for me, allowing a simple swap of the Base I/O with the V-Lock I/O would be enough in that I plan to buy the WC Gold Mount plate for a power solution. As a Scarlet Dragon owner, it doesn't make sense for me to just buy the brain. A simple swap of two existing, similar parts is all I'm asking for but alas, such is life :)

yeah, you are wrong, the only pkg that comes with the base i/o module is the weapon.
and they made it perfectly clear last year they cant substitute anything, probably just to be fair to everyone. some want the 7 inch monitor instead, some want 512 cards instead, im sure they just had to take a stance or say no subs.

but many more people want the vlock, so you will sell it no problem.

Yeah, I see, sometimes it's just listed as the Base I/O package but it was the v-lock version. If anyone is in the market for a v-lock I/O in a couple weeks, hit me up :)
