Yes this is true. We did some tests at Small Giant, and found that shooting with even 80C filters on Epic Dragon's really helped with Tungsten/3400k.
We did some tests for our colorist, and he noticed an improvement in the blue channels (the waveform was more balanced) and noticeably better skintones - not just richer, but noticeably smoother and less splotchy.
I definitely use daylight sources when it's called for (obviously daylight looking situations or blue color sources), but for me personally and the look I like to get, I prefer Tungsten because it gives skin tones a richer, more glowing look, and this holds true for all cameras that I've personally owned.
Here's a side-by-side from some light tests on the Scarlet-W using Cool Lights Flo (90+ High CRI) vs. a Lowel DP Light (Tungsten). The Tungsten skin-tones just looks better on the Scarlet-W, IMO. The noiser blue channel does not really bother me, but I can see where it comes into play on key pulling jobs - green / blue screen.
DAMN! I need to loose some weight. I'm getting a double chin! I hate seeing myself on camera, LOL.
