Hey guys,

I just came from a ten day tour, filming a documentary in italy about a cycling team.

I was running my Scarlet-W setup and purchased a RODE Videomic-Go for scratch-audio and brought my RODE Link for interviews etc.

I've read a lot of good stuff about the very cheap (68$) RODE Videomic-Go and never had any problems with my RODE Links - in fact they are pretty damn good for that price.

I ended up recording all the audio with the built-in mic of the RED Scarlet-W because it seemed that the audio-port of my base expander wasn't working (and yes, I did check Rear Analog in the Audio-menu), has some loose connection unfortunately since sound is coming every once in a while with ugly cracksounds/distortions.
I'm not really sure what it is, but I wasn't able to just plug my audio-equipment into the port and have it working.

Now coming to my question:

• Is it my base expander module?
• Is it a firmware-based problem?
• Has it something to do with RODE products?
• Is there anyone else having problems like mine?
• What can I do against it?

Thanks in advance for any kind of help,

Gerrit!

The Røde Videomic Go page says "Requires 2.5V Camera Plug-in Power". Where is that 2.5V source coming from?

When I used RÖde it did not work to plug straight into red camera. But if you find the a thread here it´s just to take it apart and cut of a cable inside the microphone and all should work fine. I think it´s the white cable that needs to be cut off. and taped up inside.

Edit found the thread.

Yes, but...SCARLET-W's base expander is yet different from EPIC/SCARLET mic jacks.

The DSMC2 expanders don't supply phantom power through the audio jack like the DSMC ones did, but I haven't read anything about whether or not it will supply 2.5v - it probably doesn't. I'm thinking that's why it won't work. You could try one of the other self-powered Rode mics like the video mic pro which has it's own 9v battery and see how that works out. I have one I could try, but no camera yet :(
