  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet shipping early 2011 - confirmed!!!!

Great news. It feels like scarlet Will roll out in mars! I wish that the preorder starts this year.

Call me pessimistic, but this just feels like a carrot being dangled to stop anyone buying the Sony.

If it is true, then great.... it will blow apart the industry.... I just feel that this news would have been far more credible if Jim had posted it in recon and not in some thread about a new threat.

Leave it to Sanijin to start a new thread and start dictating RED's delivery schedule based on two posts. This guy really gets to me some times...

Jose,

I'm not dictating anything here except making commentaries that are based on the info that we all get here and also do not have any sort of intention to "really gets to you some times..."

It's more about free thinking here than it is kind of "block mind" or conformist behavior...

At least it has stopped him from hinting the GH2 is better than the Alexa, for a few minutes.

Hehe hehe heeeeeeeeeeeehhhh

but GH2 is a real killer for all those Epic/Scarlet competitors even for its own big brother AF100/101.

But I don't say anything more about it.

Just wait and see for yourself.

Btw, one report told me that Alexa made more troubles for the recent production here in Vienna than RED1 M in its early days between Builds 12-15.

Agreed.

The Panasonic, too.

I am NOT pointing a finger. In fact, I HOPE that the imminent shipping of the AF100 and the news of the Sony S35 are, in fact, speeding up the process for the boys at RED. I'm really counting on Jim not just teasing us with another release rumor, just to dis-way some of us from investing in Sony or Panasonic.

Yep, I look forward to another line skipping, 9 stop DR camera that resolves 700 lines. Can't wait!

The only thing that interests me about it is the tele converter mode... if that outputs a 1/2" crop of the sensor with good resolution and no line skipping, we could have an interesting little product, especially with an HDMI capture device and c-mount lenses.

Just have to know why John Galt interview was recently published at CC page and then of course is the PMW-F3K latest announcement by Sony.

Just to put the record straight;
The interview with John Galt was published one year ago, read the comments section!

I'll feed the birds in saying, that the firmware is "finished" and camera designs done. I'll believe the fact that in 3 months, they'll start a bulk production

I agree with Sanjin I think that Red would gain substantial by offering the S35 early in 2011. Panasonic, Sony and Canon all have their 35mm lower end professional cameras almost ready to ship.

This is just my opinion but I think the Scarlet S35 will be a substantially better offering than these cameras. Resolution, Compression, Codec, HDRx, and Scarlets superior specifications etc...
The problem is if Red doesn't hit this market hard and quickly they will loose sales to these companies. Once you loose a sale (even though you may have a better camera) you also loose all the accessories and associated markets.
The Fixed Scarlet looks like being a great all round camera as does the 2/3 but the S35 is going to be the flagship (Scarlet) camera, shipping the S35 early 2011 would be a master stroke and would decimate the competitors.
Just my 2 Cents

It looks pretty good but that's probably from GH2's still mode...or???!!!

Ray,

agree with U2.

I doubt that Scarlet is that far along - probably the actual camera is pretty much done (judging by Jarred's still they have working prototypes) but I think firmware wouldn't be ready yet as they've been focusing heavily on EPIC. But of course, I'm sure they have a lot in common so that would help.

I think that the wisest move RED can make is to make Scarlet S35 a priority.

If they take too long, by the time they come out there will be many S35 options on the market already.

Do it RED, give us Scarlet S35 right after EPIC, you can do it!

Scarlet S35 is shipping early 2011 - confirmed!!!!

We must take this Jim's answer seriously:

When?

January?

February?

March?

Never mind Scarlet is coming pretty soon.

Which model would come the first, probably not the fixed lens Scarlet just because S35mm is chosen to smash competitors from the start of the race 2011, but who knows...????!!!

To conclude is to say that the latest announcements from Panasonic and especially Sony moved the thing with Scarlet fast forward.

where was this originally posted?
