Scarlet - Price Jump After December 31st?

Hey guys,

I still have my heart set on a Scarlet, however I am worried I might not get the funds together in time before the 31st of December. Will there be a price-jump after this date? I can't remember where I read/heard this, but can anyone verify?

Price info:

Price for Scarlet-X, including Brain, Side SSD and Canon aluminum mount (auto-focus support) is $9,750 if ordered before December 31st, 2011. After Jan. 1st, 2012 the price for Scarlet will be $9700 for the Brain only.

Holiday Schedule:

Since Alan gave notice on the RED EUROPE LTD holiday schedule, I wanted you to get a heads up on the Irvine one. We will be closed Fri, Dec 23 - Mon, Dec 26. And then again on Fri, Dec 30 - Mon, Jan 2. As always, RED tech support is 24/7/365.

Since Red is open for the next couple days, perhaps they will make an anouncement on all 2012 price increases. Especially those pieces not available in the store at the turn of the year.

Jarred has said that we will not be penalized if Red is late, but it would be great to get deposits in for all involved. If only so Red can get a handle on what the demand will be for the Quad Battery Module, the Redvolt XLs and the Pro I/O module.

These three items will not be everyone's cup of tea, but I expect massive demand for the latter.

I would put your order in online now. YOu only have to come up with the deposit, and you will then have probably 2-3 months to raise the rest before your order comes up. If you can't, then you cancel and get a refund of the deposit.

Based on recent reports of supply rates, I would think an order placed now would be filled in far longer than 2-3 months. Some estimates could place fulfillment in 2013.

I put my order in on Christmas day, and (as I am in the UK) got an email later from Alan saying it was safely in the system - outstanding, as of course I never expected to hear that day. From what I read, I think I still need to be contacted by Red before I can put down the deposit, but I am assuming this means it will be the 2011 price. Hope that helps.

Agree on this. Place the order. That way you lock in 2011 prices. You will still have time to find additional funding. If it does't work out, like Jeffrey said, just cancel the order.

There is a spot in the BackOrder update. Some prices actually dropped. DSMC sidehandle was supposed to be 1750, I think it'll be 1200 now.

this is based only on your wild speculations Arnold.
what i do know is:
that it is the first month of shipping and cameras ARE being shipped
that you have absolutely no idea how many got shipped and probably most aren't published here
that, though some tried to speculate, we have no official idea of manufacturing rate (which is true for most products from most companies)
that you don't know how many cameras were ordered
and that the only thing told by Red, is they hope to be out of backorder by FEB

why are you so stressed about this? and why are you spreading fals speculations?

i ordered a bunch of accessories from RED on Dec 1 and they all shipped... within the month, with the holidays and all.
and i'm on the other side of the Atlantic...

Scarlet now is like a pre-sale... lower price, no official shipping estimates. this makes perfect sense.
if you can't handle buying thing on pre-sale then just don't.

and Simon, i think it makes much sens to place the order before Dec 31 if this is the cam you want.
you will have time later to get the money or cancel it, but you'll save a bunch

I ordered my Scarlet-X on the night of the announcement and I've had over $16Gs just sitting there, so even though I'm still optimistic, I think Stage 4 Epic-X's will probably not ship until April, although I hope I'm wrong.

On topic: order now if you want to avoid the price increase. Don't worry -- as long as you get the order in the system, RED will take care of the rest.
