You people who really think scarlet will be anywhere south of 10k or even 14k are living in a pipedream and no offense but you don't undefstand technology or its trends very well...
I for one fully support and endorse red staying professional and low end of the high end as opposed to high end of the low end...so to speak
Mate, i make films. I don't sit around jerking off to technology trends.
My issue is with the approach of never holding anything back and always making the best camera possible is that surely it cant stop? I mean how can they ever make a camera cheaper than epic? Surely they have to offer less somewhere along the line or the camera just ends up as another EPIC. right?
So with that philosophy, how do they decide where professional starts and where it ends? It's all objective. I'm not of the belief that professional cameras have to cost over 10k or 14k. Why should it? you can make a professional camera with stripped back features. We know that scarlet must have some stripped back features otherwise it would be an EPIC, and this post is about Jim saying that it's a professional camera. All i'm saying is that even though red makes professional cameras (and that rocks my world btw), i don't think that means they always have to be out of reach for low budget people like myself. It's not always more is more.
Say they came out with a 3k, 2/3rd sensor that shoots 60fps for $6k. Based on those features along, who is going to call that an unprofessional camera?
