Hi, this is probably covered in many threads by now, but because prices and policies change over time, I'd like to hear what insurance company/policy others would currently recommend for a Scarlet package that occasionally leaves the studio.

Depending on which lenses and accessories I'm carrying, the estimated value can range anywhere between $15 and $30k. (I'm in the Atlanta area if that matters.)

Looking for something relatively inexpensive given it rarely leaves the studio.

Thanks!

Use Kat. She will take care of you.

Whether it leaves the studio often or not really doesn't matter. Your studio could get robbed or burn down. You need coverage.

Great, thanks Arthur & Andy. Her pricing seems very reasonable.

Its already insured while sitting in the studio... but realize insurance companies prob don't adjust rates depending on how often its out in the field.

Insurance doesn't matter if it doesn't cover you when you need it. I spent a lot of time, and my lawyers time researching who to use and Kat seems to be as good as it gets. She came highly recommended by dozens of owner ops, and based on the fine print, which interested me much more so then the price point, since the camera package was basically my life savings and super risky for me to get, it seems to work out. I'd still suggest getting an extended warranty along with insurance. Wear and tear isn't covered by anyone. Cameras bricking is wear and tear usually, and its usually the primary problem with all brands of digital cameras. So since insurance doesn't cover a board just dying, buy a warranty too just to really be safe. Some boards cost more then the extended warranty, I was very lucky to have it happen to a cheap board...if it had been the expensive 6k one others had happen i would basically be out of the owner op game entirely by now

Very good points Brian. I will probably go with Kat given the unanimous glowing feedback. You've got me thinking about extending the warranty too though...thanks.

+1 for Athos.

I use Kat as the supplier for equipment insurance on my Scarlet package and lenses. ATHOS has great customer service and cool web features that allow you to request and send COIs to rental companies.

I would also recommend looking into the additional "Liability" insurance to your policy, if you plan on insuring other rental items (lenses, support, etc.). I didn't include this at first, and had to add later.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Adam. I wondered about that as have lenses coming/going and sometimes rent items as well.

Yesterday I checked out their online quote request, which is pretty cool...
