  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet now In Stock?

Of course I received it. When I ordered Scarlet PL it was already out of backorder and I got it in less than a week from the order date.

Thanks man, I didn't mean anything snarky by it, I'm just not sure of the process so I didn't know if allocation meant you have to wait while they construct it or something. Thanks for your help.

Not gettin the touch screen is insane....

Its awesome. I just got my side handle, i put it on, and about 3 minutes later took it off and put it in the case. Probably will never use it again. The screen is so much faster and with the Hot keys makes for such fast efficient shooting. its a control surface and monitor all in one, connected with one cable and powered wth by thecamera itself. No extra wires, no extra crap.

I love mine. The side handle is cool for a few things. i like the slew of user buttons, but its heavy, bulky and if youre not using REDvolts, its sort of in the way.

Oh crap. Way to juxt my position, timur.

Heh heh. I'm the exact opposite. I love my DSMC Side Handle and find it faster than the 5.0" LCD Touch. I have the hot keys set to all of the exposure and focus confirmation tools. Also one key to shutdown the camera, which I do very frequently to save power and swap media. Also gives me another grip and record button on the body.

This is what Red is good at though. The give the owner/operator options on how they want to control their camera.

Personally, I, too, can't imagine the Scarlet without the touchscreen. REDmote works great and I anticipate the Side Handle will, too. Just not as direct and tactile as the LCD.

If I was to get a brain for now with PL mount, I know I'll need an adapter cable for my batteries, but can I use my Red drives? And I know the original EVF works, but would I be able to use my original 5" monitor? And they have no On board controls do they? You need a DSMC or Redmote or 5" Touch huh? I'm just trying to keep cost down until I can get other parts in the coming weeks, and need to know what parts of my Red One are usable.

Thought that may be the case with the drives. Given that epic and scarlet can shoot various frame rates etc on the one card. I'll have to get the SSD and a couple of 64s.
