Does anyone know what is included in the scarlet kit? the one with the supposed retail of 3750?

Thanks for the links,

I normally shoot action sports, Mountain bikes, bmx, skateboards so Im just trying to decide between a scarlet fixed kit and a Panasonic P2 system.

Obviously the Red would be my first choice but I am a bit worried about being stuck with a fixed lens.

Decisions, decisions....

hmmmm, the action sports you mentioned don't really allow big cameras and big lenses - so even the P2 would be fixed one, including the limitations of the codec .....

So youre choosing between the Scarlet Kit and (i'm guessing) the panasonic HPX170? Or were you planning on using the shoulder mounted HPX?

The HPX170 is also a fixed lens.

Between the Scarlet kit and the HVX205A.

Where can I find the focal lengths of the scarlets 8x zoom?

you will find the focal lenght when the SCARLET is released ..... this is the RED mantra:

Prices, Specifications and Delivery Dates are subject to drastic changes. Count on it and you will not be disappointed

and so it is ...... like it or don't like it

btw, I'm desperately waiting for the SCARLET .....

Yeah Ive pretty much decided on the scarlet but if I have to wait until next summer I may be forced to go with the Panasonic.

nearly the same to me - my old camera died because of age :out:
now I don't know what to do ..... I have the possibilty to borrow an IMX camcorder from time to time, but I'm lost without a camera for my own - flexibility is really bad now .....

I'm also in the exact same spot. I dont have full time access to a prosumer-professional quality camera and am itching to buy one. Up until I had seen the Scarlet "complete set" i was married to the idea of buying a panasonic HPX170. It still calls me from time to time lol.

Blkstr, If you're considering an HVX you should also look at the HPX. Its the same camera, with slightly nicer optics, a few extra menu options (all useful) and no tape drive. All p2. Makes it lighter and more compact.

I think I read somewhere on here tht the lense will be a 10-80mm

as far as i know out of this community: all focal lenghts are speculation .... the one thing that should be "almost" secure is, that it will be 8x ..... whatever focal lenght ....:mad5:

thanks for all its agood information and details abput this title , im looking forward to buy scarlet or epic ..... any one can tell me whats the time it could be available ?
thanks

Well last heard, its on schedule for September...

if that holds true then everything else on red.com should fall into place, maybe a month more then expected in some cases (in case of glitches etc.) but overall I'm pretty sure if RED CINE X, RED ALERT and RED ROCKET are all coming out around august time, they are going to need some equipment to put them all to the test and push them further then ever thought of...

Nobody know the release date for certain. 'cept maybe Jim...and he ain't telling!
